Game Idea
Each round, one player, called the BAM! Master, reveals a red BAM! card. All the other players now try to fill the gap in the text of this card with one of their gray term cards in a particularly funny and original way. The BAM! Master then decides which suggestion he likes especially well and which he finds forgettable. In turn, every player gets to be the BAM! Master and pass his strict judgment on the indecently good ideas of the other players.
Game Components
The game consists of 220 cards:
- 39 red BAM! cards
- 169 gray term cards
In addition, 2 red and 10 gray blank cards are included. With these cards you can bring your own ideas into the game and so create your very personal BAM!.
Do you own the base game BAM!?
You can recognize the cards of BAM!: Extrahart by the symbol at the bottom left of every card. If you also own the BAM! base game, you can simply shuffle the cards of BAM!: Extrahart into the BAM! base game.
Game Play
First shuffle the cards separately by color. Place the red BAM! cards as a face-down stack in the middle of the table. Then deal 10 gray term cards to each player. Place the remaining term cards as a face-down draw pile next to the BAM! cards.
The ugliest player begins the game and is the BAM! Master in the first round. He reveals the top red BAM! card. Then he reads the text on the card aloud, which contains the word BAM! once or twice. Each player, except the BAM! Master, now considers which of his gray term cards best replaces BAM! on the red card. If the text on the red card is, for example, "BAM! brings variety to every relationship!" and the player has the gray card "Penis propeller", he would mentally replace BAM! as follows: "A penis propeller brings variety to every relationship!" Every player does this with all of his gray term cards and then decides on one of his cards.
As soon as you have all decided on one of your cards, simultaneously place the corresponding gray card face down in the middle.
How do the red BAM! cards work that contain the word BAM! twice?
With these cards each player chooses 2 of his gray term cards. Place the card that replaces the first BAM! on top of the card that replaces the second BAM!.
Attention: The BAM! Master must on no account shuffle the cards here, so that the cards and their order do not get mixed up!
The BAM! Master takes all the gray term cards that were played and lays them out face up in front of him. Then he reads out all the suggested combinations by replacing BAM! with the text of the respective term card. It may happen that a gray term card does not fit grammatically perfectly into the sentence on the red card. The BAM! Master's task is to adapt the sentence or the term grammatically so that the resulting sentence makes sense and is grammatically correct.
Example: "The new Bond film is called: 'James Bond and BAM!'" + "Adventure vacation in Syria" should be read aloud as "The new Bond film is called: 'James Bond and the Adventure vacation in Syria'".
After the BAM! Master has read out all the combined sentences, he decides which combination he likes best and accordingly declares this gray card the winning card. The player who played this winning card receives this gray term card as a victory point. (Accordingly, for red BAM! cards that contain the word BAM! twice: the player with the best combination takes one of his two played gray term cards as a victory point.) Now the BAM! Master also selects the combination that arouses the least enthusiasm in him. The player who played this gray term card(s) receives the red BAM! card as a minus point. Collect your victory points and minus points in a pile in front of you.
Now place all the other gray cards played this round onto a discard pile.
Then everyone, except the BAM! Master, draws 1 or 2 gray cards from the draw pile, so that everyone again has 10 gray term cards in hand.
Now a new round can begin. The new BAM! Master is the left neighbor of the BAM! Master of the previous round.
What to do when the stack of gray cards is empty?
If you play so long that you run out of gray term cards, simply shuffle the discard pile of gray term cards and use the cards as a new face-down draw pile.
End of the Game
As soon as every player has been BAM! Master once, twice, three times or as often as you like, the game ends. Now add up your victory points and subtract your minus points from them to calculate your total points. In case of a tie, whoever won more gray cards wins. If there is also a tie in that, you share the coveted and incomparable title "The true BAM! Master".
