- 12 "half" triangle landscape tiles
Setup
This expansion can be played with up to 6 players. It can be played with more players if more of these expansions are available.
For the first game, we recommend shuffling all triangle tiles face down and giving each player 2 of them. The players look at their tiles and keep them face down in front of them.
Once the expansion is already known, you can try this version instead:
At the start of the game, all triangle tiles are laid out face up. A starting player is determined. Beginning with the player who sits last in the player order and proceeding counterclockwise, each player takes one tile and places it face down in front of them. Then, in the same manner, the players each take one more tile. Each player has thus chosen 2 tiles. All rules of Carcassonne remain in force.
Rules
Whoever is on turn may, instead of drawing a landscape tile and placing it, place one of their triangle tiles. Triangle tiles are placed according to the usual rules.
This means that at least one side must always match the adjoining landscape. The long side of a triangle tile may never be placed against the side of a normal landscape tile.
Example: a triangle tile may be placed as shown (one side matches the adjoining landscape). A triangle tile may not be placed as shown (the long side touches a normal landscape tile).
A matching triangle tile may be placed on a free half card space.
Example: if all sides match, two triangle tiles may lie on one space.
End of the Game
As soon as a player can no longer draw a landscape tile, the game ends immediately. Any player who still has triangle tiles in front of them may no longer place them.
Monasteries
A player scores a monastery even when one or more of the surrounding tiles are triangles. A triangle counts like a normal landscape tile: it gives 1 point and serves as the completion of the monastery. Two triangles on one space do not change this. It remains 1 point per monastery for that occupied space.
Example (final scoring): Blue scores 6 points for its monastery. Red scores 5 points for its monastery.
Expansion Symbols
Some cards in the cundco version show symbols of the expansions "Schafe und Hügel" (Sheep and Hills) and "Die Kornkreise" (Corn Circles). Ignore these symbols if you are not playing with the corresponding expansions.
Hills
When the triangle tile with a hill is placed, draw a normal, whole tile face down and place it underneath. The free half of the card space can then also be covered by another triangle tile. The hill counts for the whole card space, including the possible second triangle tile.
