5 familiarisation area boards.

All rules of the original game apply with the following changes:

Each player takes a familiarisation area board and places it face up next to and above left of his zoo board from the basic game.

Note: If Familiarisation Area is played with Zooloretto Boss, players place the familiarisation area board and the office board next to each other.

The familiarisation area is neither an enclosure nor a barn. It provides space for exactly one animal tile.

Animal tiles: If there aren't any legal spaces for an animal tile left in the enclosures, then the player must place the tile into the familiarisation area if it is empty.
If there is already one tile in this area, the player has to choose between those two tiles. He must place the other tile in his barn.

Move: The player moves the animal tile from the familiarisation area to an empty enclosure space in his zoo. This action is free.

or

The player moves one animal tile from his barn to the familiarisation area, if it is empty. This action is free.
Exchange: For 1 coin, paid to the bank, the player may exchange the animal tile in his familiarisation area with the animal tile in the familiarisation area of another player.

There are no other possibilities to move or exchange animal tiles in familiarisation areas.

It is not possible to purchase or discard an animal tile from the familiarisation area.

You do not score any plus or minus points for an animal tile in the familiarisation area.

Jungle animal tiles may not be placed in the familiarisation area.

The familiarisation area can be easily combined with one or more other expansions of Zooloretto.
