Components
- 44 cards (The front of each card is a survivor, and the back is a zombie.)
Objective of the Game
- The survivor's goal is to place all their cards.
- The zombie's goal is to prevent the survivor from placing any more cards.
Ready
- Choose 1 player to play as the zombie.
- Shuffle the 44 cards and deal 10 cards to each player. The remaining 4 cards will not be used in this game.
Turn Order
Survivor 1 → Survivor 2 → Survivor 3 → Zombie. Players take turns placing 1 card each in clockwise order.
(In 2-3 player games, this process will differ. Please refer to the separate rules.)
Tile Placement Rules
Cards must be placed while maintaining the direction of the character. The character's direction cannot be placed lying down or upside down.
Card Placement
Cards can only be placed within a 7-card range horizontally or vertically.
Example: You cannot place the 8th card.
Survivor's Play
- Survivors must place a card to connect the path to at least one location.
- Except for special characters, you cannot place a card that connects a zombie to the path. If you cannot place a card, you can skip your turn, but if everyone skips, the survivors lose. After that, the game can continue when a situation arises where a card can be placed in the next turn.
- The path must be connected to at least one survivor. (Special characters are not affected by this rule.)
※ Players cannot consult with each other or show their cards.
Special Characters
-
Police: The police can block the attack of one zombie. However, if surrounded by two zombies, the police will be zombified. In other words, the police card can be placed such that it is connected to one zombie. Later, if the zombie player places a second zombie card adjacent to the police card, the police card will be flipped.
Example: If there is only one zombie, it can be placed to connect with the police. Later, when the police card is flipped, the infection will not spread in a chain reaction from the flipped police zombie.
-
Doctor: If a path is connected, the doctor can turn zombies back into humans. This means the doctor can be placed next to a zombie. If another zombie comes nearby, you will transform into a zombie at that moment.
Example: The doctor can turn multiple zombies back into humans depending on where the card is placed.
-
Soldier: The soldier will eliminate all zombies they come into contact with by sending them out of the game. After removing the zombie cards from the game, the soldier card may be left separately. This does not interfere with the progress of the game. If another zombie comes nearby, you will transform into a zombie at that moment.
Zombie's Play
- Zombies must also place a card to connect the path to at least one survivor.
- Zombies cannot be placed only to connect with other zombies without connecting to a survivor. If they cannot place a card, they can skip their turn. When it's the next zombie's turn, they can place a card again.
- Zombies will not lose if they skip their turn.
※ You cannot place the card because it is not connected to a survivor.
※ You cannot place the card by connecting only zombies.
Zombie Transformation
The zombie transforms any connected survivors along the path into zombies.
※ In no case will the infection spread in a chain reaction from a flipped zombie.
If a zombie reaches next to multiple survivors, all those survivors will become zombies at once.
Game End and Victory Conditions
- Survivor's Victory: If a survivor places all the cards in their hand on the table, that survivor wins. The remaining players continue the game until they have used up all their cards. Therefore, there can be multiple winners.
- Zombie's Victory: If all survivors are unable to place any more cards, the zombie wins immediately, even if the zombie still has cards left.
- The game ends when all players have played as zombies.
- The player who wins the most rounds wins the game.
Easy Mode (For 4 Players)
If you play with 36 cards (9 cards per player), excluding the 4 cards, the zombies become weaker.
2-Player Game (1 Zombie, 1 Survivor)
- Card Distribution: Shuffle the 44 cards, and the zombies take 10 cards, while the survivors take 10 cards. The remaining 20 cards are placed next to the survivor to form a deck, which only the survivor can use. The remaining 4 cards are not used.
- Turn Progression: The survivor places 3 consecutive cards and draws 3 cards from the deck. The zombie places 1 card. This process is repeated as the game progresses.
※ If the draw pile runs out of cards, only the remaining cards will be drawn.
3-Player Game (1 Zombie, 2 Survivors)
- The player sitting to the left of the zombie is designated as the leader survivor, and the player sitting to the right of the zombie is designated as the regular survivor.
- Card Distribution: Shuffle the 44 cards well. The zombie takes 10 cards, the leader survivor takes 10 cards, and the regular survivor takes 10 cards. The remaining 10 cards are placed next to the leader survivor to form a deck, which only the leader survivor can use. The remaining 4 cards are not used.
- Turn Progression: The leader survivor places 2 consecutive cards and draws 2 cards from the deck. The regular survivor places 1 card, just like in a regular game. The zombie places 1 card. This process is repeated as the game progresses.
※ If there are not enough cards in the deck, only the remaining cards will be replenished.
