Setup
Panel 1, "How to Play Zogen":
The game starts when each player has 16 cards with 0-4 microbes drawn on them. The microbe types shown are Sun, Moon, Mountain and Cloud.
Playing
The fastest player to search their hand for a card that either has one more microbe or one less microbe than the current top card in the middle, and quickly shout out that microbe's name, may place their card on the pile first.
Illustration captions for this panel (the panel shows the top card in the middle of the pile, with "Moon!" and "Mountain!" shouts and example cards):
- "Moon!" shout: only the sun microbe appears.
- Example card with a cloud microbe: the cloud microbe disappears and the sun microbe appears.
- "Mountain!" shout: only the mountain microbe disappears.
Mistakes
If a player makes a mistake, someone should shout "Zogen!" and call them out. If someone is called out for making a mistake they will receive a penalty. However! If a mistake goes unnoticed, no problem!
Winning
To win, keep playing cards until you only have 3 left in hand. Your head may start to spin as new cards are quickly played on top of others. Frustratingly fun!
