Aim of the Game
The farmer who finishes the game with the most food cards in his hand will be declared winner. In case of a draw, the farmer with more variety of animals will be the winner. In the unlikely case of a persistent draw, the two of them will be declared co-winners and will share the victory and a well deserved rest. Being the best farmer is a very hard job!!
Components
- 5 wooden tractors.
- 10 animals cards.
- 27 food cards (2 wolves).
- 1 6-sided Die.
- 1 Rulebook.
Set Up
- We will place the animal cards by type, piling them up in 5 piles of 2 cards each.
- The 5 piles will be set on the center of the table.
- The 5 tractors will be placed forming a circle around the 5 piles of cards. They represent the fields where we have to find the food for our animals.
- We shuffle the rest of the cards, mixing the food cards with the 2 wolves and we will randomly place 5 cards around every tractor.
- The 2 cards remaining will be put back in the box.
How to Play
The first farmer to play would be the last one who had carrots for lunch. In their turn, each farmer will throw the die. The resulting colour will indicate the field that the farmer could visit to find food to feed the animals. The sunny side would be the wild card, which allow us to visit any field we want. Once we know the field, the farmer will proclaim the animal he would like to feed and he will reveal one of the card placed around that particular tractor.
If the chosen card represents the correct food for the right animal, the farmer will be right! He will pick up the food card and the matching animal card and he will place them in front of him in two different piles, one for food cards and the other for animal cards.
On the other hand, if the chosen card does not represent the correct food for the right animal, our farmer is a little distracted, so he will show the food card to every player and then, he will return it to its field. The animal will remain in the center of the table, waiting for a farmer who knows which is its favourite food. The next farmer to play will be the one on the left.
Wolves
In Feed the Farm, our farms will be haunted by hungry wolves. This means we will have to be very careful when we pick one of the food cards gathered around the tractors. If the revealed card is a wolf, it will immediately eat one animal. The farmer who flip the wolf card, will have to choose one of his own animal cards to discard among the wolf one. In the case that the farmer has no animal card available, the wolf card will be just discarded.
Running Out of Animal Cards
When we run out of animal cards in the centre of the table, the farmers could still feed their own animals. They just take the food card and place it on the top of their food card pile. If the farmer guess the right food, but he does not have any copy of the correct animal in his own pile (and there are no animal available to be fed in the center of the table) the farmer could steal an animal card from another player.
End of the Game
The game ends when one of the fields run out of food. It is highly recommended to play it over and over, until we become an skilled tractor driver or we are capable to respectably shear a sheep.
