How to play
Game mode
There are 2 game modes: Mysteria and Tactika.
Mysteria is more "fun" and Tacktika is more "tactical" ^^ ;-)
The 50 cards and the 25 treasure tiles are used in both modes.
Set up - Mode Mysteria
Place black cubes.
- Start by ramdomly select 5 treasure tiles face hidden (air plane visible). You won't use them during the game. Then shuffle the remaining 20 treasure tiles face hidden (air plane visible). Create the archipelago of Yutakâ (5 islands of 4 tiles as shown below), there are 5 columns of the game.
- Each player get its repartition cards and place it in from of him/her.
- Each player shuffle its 24 cards and create a deck in from of him/her (face hidden). Then they draw the 6 first cards from their deck.
Set up of the archipelago of Yutakâ (the five islands are: Île du Pendu, Île aux Diamants, Île du Serpent, Île du Dragon, Île du Singe).
Game play
There are 3 phases:
- Reveal 4 treasure tiles
- Play cards in turn (reveal a treasure tiles for each Equipment or dynamite card played)
- Count the points.
1. Reveal 4 treasure tiles
At the beginning of each game, 4 treasure tiles are reaveal: The player 1 (the youngest) flip one of the 20 treasures. Then the player 2 do the same. Then again player 1 and 2 reveal a treasure.
The remaining 16 treasures will be revealed during the game.
2. Play cards and reaveal treasure tiles ...
The players play in turn until all treasure are revealed.
At every turn, the active player has to play a card in from or in the back of one of the 5 islands, then he/she must draw a nez card to have 6 cards in hand. Based on the cards played, the tiles will be progressively reveal.
- A card precious object is always placed next to the active player.
- A cards Equipment is always place next to the active player. After placing a card Equipment, the qctive player has to reveal a new treasure tile (he/she can freely choose which one).
- A card Dynamite is always placed next to the opponent. After placing a Dynamite, the opponent player has to return a new treasure tile (he/she can choose freely which one).
Example: player 1 play a Dynamite on colonne of player 2, player 2 has to reveal a treasure tile. The turn of player 1 is over, player 2 starts his turn.
The cards are always place in column.
IMPORTANT. A island cannot have a column of more than 5 cards per side.
3. Count points
When the last tile is reveal, the game end immediately (even if you still have cards in hand).
Players will now gain treasure tiles.
Dynamite cards doesn't have value.
Winning treasure tiles
Winning treasure tiles: Idol, Dagger, Amphora and Crystals.
Example of winning a treasure tile dagger
To win a treasure tile dagger of an islanf, one need:
- To have at least one card dagger (green) on its side of the island.
- To have the majority when adding of the values of the dagger cards (green) on this column.
In the example above: player 2 win the treasure tile dagger 12 (green) because the value of its cards dagger (green) is 5 against 4 for player 1.
In case of a draw, the treasure tiles are discarded.
Do the same for the tiles idols, Amplore and Cristals.
Winning Equipment tiles
To win equipment cards, one need to have at least one card equipment (gray) on his/her side of the island:
- If both players have at least one card equipment, to win a player must be majoritary when adding the values of all his/her cards in the column.
- If only one player has an equipment ccard, he/she win the tiles Equipment.
Example above: both player can pretend to win the 2 equipment tiles because the both have at least one card Equipment. Player 2 win both Equipment tiles because the sum of all his/her cards is higher than player 1.
Joueur 1 = 2+0+1+2 = 5 / Joueur 2 = 3+2+2+0+1 = 8.
In case of draw, the tiles are discarded.
End of the game
Once all the cards are counted, the players sum up the values of their treasure tiles. The player with the highest total win the game. In case of a draw, the player with the most Equiment treasure win the game!
Player 2 wins the game!
The example game (columns 1 to 5) ends with the following result.
Player 1 wins the following tiles:
- col. 1, blue (4pts) and red (pts)
- col. 2, yellow (15 pts)
- col. 3, nothing
- col. 4, red (4pts)
- col. 5, gray (5pts), blue (10 pts) and red (1pts)
Player 1 total: 4 + 6 + 15 + 4 + 5 + 10 + 1 = 45 points.
Source note: the printed text gives no value for the red tile in column 1 ("red (pts)"). The value 6 used here is the one implied by the printed total of 45.
Player 2 wins the following tiles:
- col. 1, the green (12pts) and gray (7pts)
- col. 2, blue (8pts) and red (11 pts)
- col. 3, the gray (3pts), the blue (2pts) and the red (8pts)
- col. 4, gray (8pts) and yellow (5pts)
- col. 5, nothing
Player 2 total: 12 + 7 + 8 + 11 + 3 + 2 + 8 + 8 + 5 = 64 points.
Precisions:
- Column 3: even with 2 Equipment cards for player 1, player 2 is majority by adding the values of all his/her cards in this column (5 against 8).
- Column 4: the sum of the green Dagger cards of both players is identical (4), so nobody wins the Dagger treasure tile (8 pts).
- Column 5: no player has played a Dagger card, so nobody wins the Dagger treasure tile (4 pts).
- In this game, the 5 unknown treasure tiles were the following: idol 10, dagger 6, amphora 6, equipment 4, equipment 3.
Mode Tactika
For this mode, replace the 25 black cubes by the 25 colored cubes. The color of each cube have to match the colot of the number of the treasure tiles. Hence, from the beginning you hqve more information which makes the game more tacticql.
Variants
- Tp spice up the game, you can mix the 2 modes ! For example having 2 of the color known (yellow and green) and 3 unknown (blue, red and gray). The set up and the game pla is the same as the basic games.
- You can as well creare your own archipelago stacking up tiles. At the beginning you cqn only reveal the tiles accessible.
