Game Material

The Harvest Cards

Every harvest card has six orders that must be fulfilled from bottom to top. After three orders have been fulfilled, a player may collect a coin. If a player fulfills all six orders, they receive four bean coins.

The small numbers on the right side of the harvest cards indicate the probability (in percent) that an order will be fulfilled right on the first roll of the dice. So the rule is: the smaller the number, the harder the order.

The Bean Dice

Seven different bean varieties are pictured on the faces of the dice. Not every variety appears on every die. The three beige dice are identical to one another, and the four white dice are identical to one another.

  • Garden Bean
  • Red Bean
  • China Bean
  • Blue Bean
  • Soy Bean
  • Broad Bean
  • Snap Bean

Game Setup

The bean field is placed in the middle of the table. Each player receives an overview card. The harvest cards are shuffled. Each player receives two cards, which they place face up in front of them, one below the other.

The undealt harvest cards form a face-down draw pile in the middle of the table. One player is chosen to be the first active player; after that, play continues clockwise.

Gameplay

The Active Player Rolls

The active player begins by rolling all seven dice at once. They may roll dice multiple times. After every roll, they must place at least one die on the bean field. Dice on the bean field may not be rolled again.

The Orders

The orders on every harvest card are put together so that it is always possible to fulfill up to three orders per card, but never four. To fulfill an order, the bean varieties pictured on the harvest card must be rolled. For example:

  • Two Soy Beans, one Blue Bean, and one Snap Bean must be rolled.

There is also a range of special orders. For example:

  • Two Red Beans or two China Beans must be rolled.
  • Six different varieties must be rolled.
  • Four of a kind of any one bean variety must be rolled.
  • Three dice of one variety and two dice of another variety must be rolled, where one of these two varieties must be the Soy Bean.
  • Any combination of both varieties must be rolled. This can be five Blue Beans or five Snap Beans, or a combination of both varieties totaling five dice.
  • None of the seven dice may show a Blue Bean.
  • Two three-of-a-kinds of two different, freely chosen bean varieties must be rolled.
  • Three pairs of three different, freely chosen bean varieties must be rolled.

Fulfilling Orders

A player always has two harvest cards lying face up in front of them. The upper card is active, and the orders pictured on it must be fulfilled from bottom to top. The lower card is used to cover fulfilled orders: first the bottommost order, then the second-from-bottom, and so on up to the topmost order.

The Active Player Fulfills Orders

As soon as the active player has placed their last die on the bean field, or no longer wants to place another die there, they may fulfill orders. To do this, they check whether the dice on the bean field match the lowest not-yet-covered order. If so, they slide the lower harvest card over the fulfilled order. They then check whether the next order can also be fulfilled with the dice.

Attention: Each die can be used for multiple orders.

If the active player cannot or does not want to fulfill any (more) orders, they pass all the dice clockwise to the next player.

The Other Players Fulfill Orders

After every roll by the active player, the other players may also fulfill orders. They may look at the dice the active player has just rolled (not the dice already on the bean field) and check whether they can fulfill orders on their own active card with these dice.

Example

  1. Adam rolls with all 7 dice.
  2. Barbara speaks up: "Stop, I can fulfill my orders 'no Blue Bean on 7 dice' and 'one Red, one China, and one Garden Bean.'"
  3. Since no other player speaks up, Adam places the China Bean and a Soy Bean on the field and rolls on with five dice.
  4. Since no player speaks up, Adam places the two Blue Beans and the China Bean on the field and rolls the remaining two dice again.
  5. Claus immediately speaks up: "I can fulfill my first order with a Garden Bean and a Snap Bean," and covers the order.
  6. Adam ends his turn and fulfills three orders.

Redeeming Harvest Cards

As soon as the third order (from the bottom) has been fulfilled, the harvest card may be redeemed at any time. If the 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th order on the card has been fulfilled, the player receives 1, 2, 3, or 4 bean coins accordingly. This works as follows:

  1. If the player wants to redeem their active harvest card, they turn it over to its coin side and place it down in front of them. They now have one coin. The lower harvest card becomes the new active harvest card.
  2. If the player receives 2, 3, or 4 coins, they additionally draw 1, 2, or 3 harvest cards from the draw pile and place them coin-side up in front of them.
  3. They draw one harvest card from the draw pile and place it face up beneath their new active harvest card.

Attention: A player may immediately fulfill one or more orders on the new active harvest card right after redeeming.

Example

Doris has two Red Beans, two Snap Beans, and three Blue Beans on the bean field. Doris can now fulfill three orders.

Doris decides to redeem her active harvest card, because she can fulfill further orders on her covering card.

She turns the active harvest card over to its coin side and places it down in front of her. She then draws two more harvest cards from the draw pile, giving her three coins in total. The covering card becomes the new active card, and to cover it she draws another card from the draw pile and places it underneath. She then fulfills further orders.

Doris could also redeem this harvest card and collect one coin. This time she decides against it and passes the dice on to Adam.

Should it happen, in rare cases, that the draw pile becomes empty while redeeming, the player turns their overview card over. Five coins are pictured on the back. The player adds these coins to their earned bean coins and, in exchange, returns five individual bean coins to the draw pile. They then take the coins they need for the redemption.

End of the Game

The first player to have earned 13 bean coins ends the game and wins. If this happens to a player who is not the one currently rolling, the active player may not roll any further.

If several players have earned 13 bean coins at the same moment, they share the victory — unless one player receives more than 13 coins through a single roll of the dice, in which case the player with the most bean coins wins.
