Components and Setup
- 168 double-sided cards with topics and facts. 336 shocking and dirty topics in total. Shuffle all the cards and place them on the table as two decks, any side face down.
- 8 double-sided A/C tokens and 8 double-sided B/D tokens for exposing bluffs. Give each player one A/C token and one B/D token.
- A pad and a pencil for keeping score. Write each player's initials in the top cells of the pad.
- These rules. You can start playing while reading them.
Game Play
-
Each player takes one card from either deck. Do not show your card to the other players.
-
Choose either side of your card and look at the facts on it:
- A — absolute truth. This is a true fact (although it may sound insane). If you choose this side, simply read what is written.
- B — bluff. This is a false fact. If you choose this side, read the beginning of the fact as it is on the card, and make up the ending yourself. Make up something convincing, scandalous or funny (or all of these at once). The lie must match the topic printed under letter D on your card.
- C — lie. This is an "alternative fact". It is false, but it is disguised as the truth. If you choose this side, simply read what is written.
- D — grand bluff. This is your chance to show yourself as a brilliant inventor. If you choose this side, you must make up a false fact entirely on your own, on the topic printed under letter D. Do not use information from the other sides of your card. A grand bluff must be 100% original!
-
As soon as you have decided which fact you want to read, say: "Ready!" The player who says it first becomes the first host.
-
The host reads the chosen fact aloud. It may be read only once. The others listen and may not ask the host any questions.
Try not to reveal which fact you chose. Bluff! Pretend that you are making it up (if you are reading a ready-made fact) or that you misread a ready-made fact (if you are making it up). Your task is to fool your opponents so that they never guess which fact you chose.
-
After the host has read the fact, the others make their guesses. Hold one of your tokens in your fist with the letter facing up:
Keep playing until one of you scores 25 points.
Example of Play
Anya is the host. She reads fact B: she reads half from the card and makes up the rest herself. Borya, Vanya and Galya make their guesses.
Borya thinks Anya told the truth and holds up token A. Vanya thinks Anya made up the whole fact and holds up token D. Galya thinks Anya made up half of the fact and holds up token B. Anya, meanwhile, holds up token B.
On "three", everyone opens their fists at once. Anya gets 1 point each for Vanya and Borya, because they did not guess her option. So Anya has 2 points in total. Galya gets 2 points for guessing Anya's option. Vanya and Borya get nothing.
Example card (Anya's card, as shown in the rulebook):
- A: "In the film The Simpsons Movie there is a scene where Bart rides a skateboard naked. His penis is even visible."
- B: "In The Simpsons, in the episode 'Dirty Dog', Homer pours water on Santa's Little Helper in order to..."
- C: "In The Simpsons, Lisa once asked Marge what masturbation was, and Marge answered: 'It is what God gave us four fingers for.'"
- D: Topic: Sex in The Simpsons.
Winning
The first player to score 25 or more points wins. If, at the end of a turn, several players have more than 25 points, the player with the most points wins. If there is a tie, the tied players play one more round against each other.
Quick Game
For a faster game, simply lower the number of points needed to win as you like.
