Components

  • Action card organizer mat
  • 4 Sacks (bags)
  • 30 Action cards
  • Farm mat
  • 7 custom dice: 6 Hunt dice and 1 Bonus Hunt die
  • 1 Dog meeple
  • 60 double-sided Chicken/Dinner tokens
  • 10 oversized Fox Character cards
  • 1 Rubber chicken

Setup

a. Place the Farm mat in the center of the table. b. Place the Action card organizer near the Farm mat. c. Shuffle all Action cards and place them next to the card organizer. Flip over three cards and place one at the base of each Action card slot.

If playing a two-player game, remove the following cards from the game and place in box:

  • Cluck Off
  • Dance Party
  • Pass Bags to Left or Right
  • Guess the number of chickens in a player's bag.

d. Place the Dog meeple on the dog head icon at the start of the track. e. Place 15 chicken tokens per player in the coop area on the farm. f. Place the Bonus Hunt die in the designated area on the farm. g. Each player takes 1 bag, 1 Fox Character card, and 2 chicken tokens from the coop (place in bag). h. The player who has most recently eaten chicken will be the starting player. Give them the 6 Hunt dice and you're ready to begin!

Turn Order

Roll all 6 Hunt dice

Re-roll any non-dog dice if desired (may repeat one more time for a total of three rolls). If re-rolling, you are not required to re-roll all of the non-dog dice; you may keep any other dice results that you have already rolled.

Resolve the Dice

These can be done in any order, but each result icon type must be completed before you can do another. Each die result is spent; it cannot be used again.

Dogs: move the dog along the bark track the same number of spaces as dog faces rolled.

Resolve the dog's ability (if applicable): rolling two dog faces lets you choose another player to lose a chicken from their bag back to the coop. Rolling 3 dog faces allows you to steal a chicken from any player and place it in your bag. (The farm sign reads: Roll 3 Dogs = Steal 1 Chicken. Roll 2 Dogs = Choose 1 Player to Lose 1 Chicken Back to the Coop.)

Example: 5 dog faces are rolled. The player has the choice of performing the 2-dog action twice, or the 2 and 3 actions one time each.

When any player ends their turn with 4 or more dog faces on their dice, collect a chicken from the coop.

Chickens: add up the total number of chickens on the dice and grab that many chicken tokens from the coop and stash them in your bag. If there aren't that many chickens remaining, take all that are left (and the game ends at the end of your turn).

Foxes: purchase Action cards from the card organizer, paying the cost above the card (1, 2, or 3 fox faces). Do not shift the cards or refill the organizer mid-turn. If the card says "Play Immediately," you must immediately resolve its effect before proceeding to purchase additional Fox cards or resolving other dice types.

Dinner: For each pair of single legs rolled, you may cook one chicken from your bag. Do this by removing it from the bag and placing it dinner side up next to your character card. Similarly, for each pair of double legs that are rolled, you may then cook 2 chickens. Incomplete pairs have no value.

At any point in your turn, you may use Fox Action cards that you have saved in your hand.

End of Turn

Pass the Hunt dice to the next player clockwise.

Reset the Action card organizer if any Fox cards were purchased, by sliding the cards to the left (cheaper direction) filling in any gaps. Refill the empty slots so that the newest card is always the most expensive.

Game End

At the end of a player's turn, if either of these conditions has been met, then the game ends immediately and you proceed to scoring.

  1. The Dog meeple reaches its final space on the bark track:

    • Two-player game: 20
    • Three-player game: 30
    • Four-player game: 40

    OR

  2. There are no more chickens remaining in the farm coop.

Scoring

Tally up your chicken and dinner tokens, with the highest point total winning:

  • Dinner tokens: 2 points per dinner token
  • Chicken tokens in your bag: 1 point per chicken token

Tiebreaker: Person who has the most dinner tokens. If still tied, then most Action cards remaining in hand. If still tied, each player rolls the 6 Hunt dice one time and most chickens on the dice win. If still tied...seriously, this is getting ridiculous...keep proceeding with rolling the dice and counting chickens until there is a winner.

Card Ability Clarifications

Cluck Off: Player who purchases the card is a judge in a chicken clucking contest. After all, you are foxes raiding a chicken coop, so being able to blend in with your surroundings is important. All other players give their best chicken clucking impersonation. The judge selects a winner, then the other player(s) must give the judge and the winner a chicken from their bag in that order.* Play immediately.

Dance Party (Chicken Dance Party): Similar to Cluck Off except you give your best chicken dance impersonation. Play immediately.

* If a losing player only has one chicken in their bag, it goes to the judge.

Items of Note

  • Whenever you steal a chicken from a player or from the coop, it always goes into your bag, never directly to dinner (unless card states otherwise).
  • Dinner tokens can never be taken from a player, while chickens in your bag are always at risk of being stolen or having your entire bag taken. Not only are dinners worth more points, you are guaranteed to score those points at the end.
  • Choose wisely if you have to tell a player to lose a chicken or steal from them. If they don't have any, you cannot select a different player.
  • By now, you may be wondering what the rubber chicken is for? The answer to that question is completely up to you. Make a custom rule with it, use it in cluck offs or dance parties, etc.
