Expansion Pack Overview

The Trollslayer Expansion Pack is a card expansion for Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game. The Trollslayer is added to the pool of available Heroes during Step II: Choose Heroes of the Initial Game Setup. The Trollslayer is compatible with all other heroes and game components.

Hero Cards

The Trollslayer has three hero cards. Each card has a number of hero icons matching the number of heroes in the party, and the hero card with that number of icons is used during setup. The health value of each card is printed in its red medallion.

Trollslayer (4 Hero Icons, Health 13)

Members of the Slayer Cult seek glorious death in battle to make up for some great shame in life. They routinely seek combat with the most dangerous monsters they can find.

Trollslayer (3 Hero Icons, Health 17)

If this hero is the party leader, he activates twice during each hero phase.

Trollslayer (2 Hero Icons, Health 25)

This hero activates twice during each hero phase.

Gear Cards

Me Father's Axe

Weapon - Melee. Trollslayer.

Before your attack action, if you are engaged with the highest-ranked enemy, you may discard 1 [black disc icon] to apply +2 [crossed-axes icon].

Me Father's Other Axe

Weapon - Melee. Trollslayer.

After your attack action, if you defeated at least 1 enemy, add 1 progress to the location.

Ancestral Charm

Accessory - Charm. Trollslayer.

During your explore action, you may convert any combination of up to 3 [round icon] or blank results to an equal number of [claw icon].

Action Cards

Each action card names its action type in its top-left badge. Cards marked Basic are the Trollslayer's starting actions, and cards marked Advanced are upgrade actions. Action cards with a prepare icon (a circular arrow) are marked as such below.

Basic Actions

Stand Aside (Aid, Basic)

  • You may engage 1 enemy.
  • AID: 2 white dice.
  • The target hero may ready 1 action.
  • If you engaged an enemy using this action, become empowered.

"Get out th' way ye weedy manling. That's my death yer looking to steal." —Kurgi Balginson

Dragon Slayer (Attack, Basic)

  • You may engage 1 enemy.
  • ATTACK: 2 white dice. After this action, if you do not have any armour equipped, recover [black drop icon] equal to the attack value of all enemies you defeated.

"Slayers seek death, but they cannot bring less than their very best to a battle. When trolls are no longer a challenge, they hunt giants. And when that fails..." —Grudgekeeper Hilde

Into the Fray (Explore, Basic, Prepare)

  • You may engage 1 enemy.
  • EXPLORE: 1 white die. During this action, for each [claw icon], apply +1 [crossed-axes icon].
  • Draw and resolve 1 dungeon card.
  • Ready all of your actions.

The thing about seeking a glorious death is that it's never where you look first.

Force of Will (Rest, Basic)

  • You may exhaust 1 non-nemesis enemy engaged with you.
  • REST: 2 white dice.
  • If you are engaged with the highest-ranked enemy, you may ATTACK: 2 white dice.

Trollslayers do not wear armour nor carry shields. They are generally of the opinion that the best defense is more offense.

Advanced Actions

This One's Mine (Aid, Advanced)

  • You may engage 1 enemy.
  • AID: 3 white dice.
  • The target hero may ready 1 action.
  • If you engaged an enemy using this action, claim 1 [black disc icon] and become empowered.

Slayers would prefer to be the first into battle, as that's the best way to get killed.

Daemon Slayer (Attack, Advanced)

  • You may engage 1 enemy.
  • ATTACK: 3 white dice. During this action, if you target the highest-ranked enemy, apply +1 [crossed-axes icon]. After this action, if you do not have any armour equipped, recover [black drop icon] equal to the attack value of all enemies you defeated.

"So, what comes after dragons?" —Fregga the Cyclone, Failed Dragon Slayer

Honorable Death (Explore, Advanced, Prepare)

  • You may engage up to 2 enemies.
  • EXPLORE: 2 white dice. During this action, for each [claw icon] or [round icon], apply +1 [crossed-axes icon].
  • Draw and resolve 1 dungeon card.
  • Ready all of your actions.

"At last..."

The Slayer Oath (Rest, Advanced)

  • You may exhaust 1 non-nemesis enemy engaged with you.
  • REST: 3 white dice. During this action, apply +1 [slash icon] for each enemy engaged with you.
  • If you are engaged with the highest-ranked enemy, you may ATTACK: 3 white dice.

"Let my orange crest stand testament to my shame. Let all foes behold it and know fear, for I have none remaining." —Kurgi Balginson

Transcription Notes

  • The photographs show dice icons after each action name. These are white dice, as defined by the base game (one white die for each die icon after an action's name), and are written here as a number of white dice.
  • Icons were not identifiable from the photographs with certainty and are written in brackets: [crossed-axes icon] (the icon printed after "+1" and "+2"), [claw icon] (three diagonal strokes), [round icon] (a dark round face-like glyph), [black disc icon] (a solid black disc), [black drop icon] (a solid black teardrop), and [slash icon] (the mark after "+1" on The Slayer Oath, which was the least legible glyph on the pack). Check these against the physical cards before relying on them.
  • The prepare icon (a circular arrow) appears on Into the Fray and Honorable Death.
  • The hero card with 4 icons is printed with health 13, the 3-icon card with health 17, and the 2-icon card with health 25.
  • Each action card is labelled either Trollslayer - Basic or Trollslayer - Advanced on its bottom edge.
  • The base game's rules govern play. The pack contains no separate rules insert, and its card text uses base game keywords (such as empowered, ready, exhaust, engage, and prepare).
