Game Idea and Goal of the Game
Three of a kind, straight, full house - the bugs set the tasks. Each card shows two to four of these tasks. The players decide which of them they want to complete, but only the player who completes the last task on a card receives that card as a prize. Anyone who rolls unsuccessfully on their turn is punished with annoying baby bugs. A few of them are harmless - but the 5th baby bug in front of a player brings minus points.
The player who has collected the most points at the end of this fast dice game wins.
Game Setup
The task cards are shuffled. 15 task cards are counted off and placed as a face-down stack in the middle of the table. The top card is turned face up. The penalty cards are placed next to it as a face-up stack, sorted by value, with the "-5" at the bottom and the "-1" as the top card of the stack.
The 16 baby bugs, the 4 cover chips and the 5 dice are placed within easy reach next to the cards.
The oldest player begins. Play then continues clockwise.
Course of Play
The player whose turn it is takes all 5 dice and rolls. They must try to roll a task shown on the task card. After every roll the player has one of two options:
- Set dice aside: The player sets aside as many dice as they like; they may not roll these dice again until the end of their turn. They must take at least one die, but may also set aside all dice.
- Repeat the roll: The player takes 1 baby bug from the middle of the table and places it in front of them. In return, they repeat the roll with exactly the dice they have just rolled. It is not possible to re-roll only some of the dice just rolled. Note: It is allowed to take a baby bug several times in a row in order to repeat a roll several times.
Afterwards the player takes the dice that were not set aside and rolls them again. For the new roll they again have the two options described. They continue this until they have set aside all 5 dice.
Example: Karin rolls and sets aside 2 dice (1). She rolls the remaining 3 dice again but is not satisfied with the result (2). She takes a baby bug, repeats the roll and sets aside one die from it (3). She rolls the remaining two dice once more and sets both aside (4).
Successfully Completing a Task
If at the end of their turn the player has rolled a result that is shown on the task card, they take a cover chip and cover the corresponding task. If they could cover several tasks with the result, they must decide on one of them.
Afterwards they may choose whether to take another turn with all 5 dice or to stop. If they end their turn, the next player to their left is next.
Example: Karin can complete a task with the full house of 3s and 6s. The completed task is covered.
No Task Completed
If at the end of their turn the player cannot complete any task on the task card with their dice result, they must take 2 baby bugs from the middle of the table and place them in front of them. This also applies if, after successfully completing a task, they chose to take another turn and have no success in it. Their turn is over and the player to their left is next.
Example: David cannot complete a task with his result. He must take 2 baby bugs from the supply.
Last Task on a Card Completed
If a player manages to complete the last task on a task card, they receive the card with the plus points on it as a reward and place it face down in front of them. Then they turn up the next task card and the player to their left is next.
Example: Anna can complete the last task on the card with her result. She receives the card and thus 3 points as a reward.
The Penalty Cards
If a player receives the 5th baby bug, the game is interrupted immediately. They take the top penalty card from the stack and place it face down in front of them. All players now return all their baby bugs to the supply in the middle of the table, and the next player to the left is next.
End of the Game
The game ends immediately when either the stack of task cards or the stack of penalty cards is used up. All players add up the plus points on the task cards they have won and subtract from them the minus points on their penalty cards. The player who now has the most points wins. In the event of a tie there are several winners.
