Game Components

  • 1 board with 169 hexagonal spaces
  • 18 hexagonal metal stones
  • 5 dice

Object of the Game

Each player tries to move the chain of stones toward their own side of the board. As soon as the chain of stones touches one of the edges belonging to a player, that player wins. If the chain touches a corner space shared by two sides of the board, the two players who own those sides win together.

Setup

Each player receives one side of the board. With 4 players, two opposite sides remain empty. With 3 players, the players sit in a triangle formation. With 2 players, each takes two opposite spaces.

At the start of the game, the 18 stones are placed around the middle space of the board. The middle space, which otherwise counts as a normal space, remains empty.

During the game, all stones must remain connected to each other at all times. However, the shape and orientation of the chains or areas built by the players change constantly as stones jump over other stones according to the dice rolled.

Turn Order

  • The player who begins is decided by rolling the dice. The other players follow in clockwise order.

Playing a Turn

  • On a turn, the player rolls all 5 dice at once and may then move 5 stones in any order.
  • Dice values are used as follows:
    • 2 to 6: If you rolled a 2, you may jump with a stone in a straight line over one other stone. If you rolled a 3, you may jump over a contiguous row of stones. The stone that is moved may not become separated from the rest of the chain.
    • 1: The player cannot jump over another stone with a 1. The player may only move a stone. The player must take care that the moved stone does not lose contact with the rest of the chain.
  • If a player cannot use one or more of the dice rolled, the player rolls fewer dice on the following turn. For each die that was not used, one fewer die is rolled on the next turn:
    • 1 die not used: next turn, roll 4 dice.
    • 2 dice not used: next turn, roll 3 dice.
    • 3 dice not used: next turn, roll 2 dice.
  • If the player manages to use all rolled dice during the following turn, this restriction is lifted. If the player again fails to use all the dice remaining to them, they lose one or more dice again on the following turn.

End of the Game

The first player to bring the chain of stones into contact with the edge on their side of the board wins the game.

Note: the Dutch source prints the die-face pictograms in the dice rules as blank bullet points (for example "Gooide je . 3"). They are read here as the die values 2, 3, and 1 as the surrounding text indicates.
