Here's What's Inside
- 7 bug dice
- 4 x 22 bug cards (Barrel bugs, Chatter bugs, Rattle bugs, Water bugs)
This is What You're Going to Do
You win if you have collected the most bugs on your bug heap by the end of the game.
This is How You Set the Game Up
- Create a front yard: Each player places one bug of each kind face up in front of him.
- Shuffle the remaining cards: Form a face-down pile.
- Lay out a bug hub: Draw 10 cards from the pile. Line them up, sorted by bugs, face up in the middle of the table. It can happen that not all four kinds are present.
- Turn all 7 dice to a side with double bars!
Let's Get Started!
Players play in turns. The last one to see an adorable bug begins.
Choose a bug group
At the beginning of your game turn, you choose the bug group you want to roll for. There are two groups of bugs:
- the bug hub, or
- the previous player's catch
If the previous player has not left any catch, there is only the bug hub – as at the beginning of the game.
Boost the bug group
Before each of your own rolls, you may keep adding any number of bugs from your front yard to the chosen group. If your front yard is empty, this isn't possible, of course.
You may keep rolling until you either bug up a roll or stop voluntarily.
Roll the Dice
- Take over the previous player's dice! Before you start rolling, all dice must show the result with which the previous player finished his turn – including the dice that he did not roll. Before the very first roll in the game, all dice have to show double bars.
- Roll at least 4 dice! For each individual roll, select at least 4 dice of your choice for your roll.
- Once the dice have come to rest, don't change them! Always leave all the dice that you don't include in your roll unchanged. Attention: Your roll must include any dice whose results you have changed before your roll.
- Count all dice! After each roll, all 7 dice are included in your count – even those you have not used for your roll. Always put the dice to the left of the bug group you have rolled for on the current game turn.
- Put the dice next to the cards! Put each die that shows a bug to the left of the bug cards of the corresponding color. Then check whether you have bugged up this roll.
You roll at least four dice – e.g., these five. All seven dice – including those that have not been rolled – form the result of your roll.
Bugged Up!
If there are more dice than there are cards in the matching color, you have bugged things up.
Count only those cards that belong to the bug group you are rolling for.
Example: After your roll, there are more yellow dice than yellow bug cards. Consequently, you have bugged up this roll.
Now…
- your game turn ends.
- you don't get any bugs from the bug hub display.
- you draw, as a consolation, 2 bugs from the pile and place them face up in your front yard. Once there are 6 bugs in your front yard, it is full. In this case, take no (additional) bugs from the pile.
- If you have already made a catch during your current game turn (see page 13), you eliminate it: Move all bugs back to the group that you rolled for.
- If you have rolled for the previous player's catch on your current turn, he now receives all cards of his catch. See the section "Pile up the bug heap!" (p. 15) to learn what he may do with the bug cards.
Not Bugged Up!
If there is (at least) one card of the matching color for each die, you have not bugged things up.
Example: You have not bugged up your roll since there are (at least) as many cards of each color as there are dice in these colors.
Now…
- for each bug you have rolled, move one color-matching bug card all the way to the right, keeping some distance from the applicable row. This is where these bugs form your catch.
- you choose whether to keep rolling or stop voluntarily.
If you roll for the previous player's catch, you form your catch next to his catch (on the right). In this case, you leave the bug hub on the left, untouched.
Diagram labels: Bug group you're rolling for – Your catch – Bug hub – Previous player's catch – Your catch.
Keep Rolling
You keep rolling for the remaining bug cards of the same group. Again, roll at least 4 dice of your choice.
Example: After this roll, you move three more yellow bugs, one blue bug, and one red bug into your catch.
Stop Voluntarily
Provided you have not bugged up any roll on your current game turn, you may stop rolling anytime. This ends your game turn.
Now…
- you leave your catch in place.
- you wait and see whether the next player wants to roll for your catch.
- If you have plundered the previous player's catch on your current turn, he now gets the bug cards that are left from his catch. See the section "Pile up the bug heap!" (p. 15) to learn what he may do with the cards.
What Will the Next Player Do?
He rolls for the bug hub.
Before he rolls…
- you get all cards of your catch, provided you have not bugged things up. See the section "Pile up the bug heap!" to learn what you may do with the cards.
- you replenish the bug hub with bugs from the pile. You do this, regardless of whether or not you had bugged things up: For each bar the dice are showing, you add a newly-drawn bug to the row of the matching color. If there are then fewer than 8 cards in the bug hub, you replenish it to 8 cards. When the draw pile has been used up, this is omitted.
He rolls for your catch.
- you leave all bugs of your catch in place during his entire game turn.
- you do NOT replenish the bug hub with bugs from the pile.
Pile Up the Bug Heap!
If you get a catch, you may
- place as many of these cards in your front yard as you want – up to a maximum of 6 bugs.
- collect as many of these cards as you want face down on your bug heap in front of you. You are allowed to collect the entire catch on the bug heap.
The End
The game ends immediately if, at the beginning of your game turn,…
- the draw pile is depleted AND
- there are fewer than 8 cards left in the bug hub AND
- you don't want to roll for the previous player's catch (if there is one).
But: The game does not end if you have enough cards in your front yard left to replenish the bug hub to at least 8 cards. In this case, you must do this and continue playing.
If there is still a catch belonging to the previous player left by the end of the game, that player gets his complete catch.
The Winner
Add up the bug cards of your bug heap. If you have accumulated more bugs there than the other players, you win the game. In case of a tie, the player who has fewer bugs in his front yard breaks the tie.
