Solitary Villagers

The pack contains two Solitary villagers. Each one has a card title, a scoring line, and an illustration. Their printed text is reproduced below.

Solitary Plower

2 gold for each grain symbol in your village.

Solitary Scribe

1 gold for each card in hand.

Solo Mode Reference

The double-sided Solo Mode Reference card is a player aid for solo play. It refers to components and terms defined in the base Villagers rulebook (the Countess village, the Road, the Reserve, the Bank, the food limit and the Winter deck). Those terms are not defined on this card and are not defined in this sheet.

Draft Phase

Every time you draft a villager, pick a face-up villager from the Road and place it in the Countess village. Do this before replacing the face-up cards on the Road. You must draft as many villagers as your food limit allows.

End of Draft Phase

  1. You may place a 1-value coin from the Bank on a face-up villager on the Road.
  2. Discard any villagers on the Road without coins on them.
  3. Replace the discarded villagers with new ones from the Reserve.

Build Phase

Only the player has a build phase.

Event Phase

  1. Resolve any event cards and discard them.
  2. In each round except the last, place the top card of the Reserve into the Countess' village. Calculate the gold / silver value of the card and deal events for next round accordingly:
    • 10+ gold: 1 event card
    • 1-9 gold: 2 event cards
    • 0 gold: 3 event cards

Market Phase

After the first market phase, deal events from the Winter deck.

Setup

Not printed on the cards. Taken from the BGG item description for this promo, which the transcriber could not verify against a printed rules insert.

Shuffle the two Solitary villagers into the main villager deck before setup. The Solitary villagers are playable at all player counts, including solo.

Notes on This Sheet

  • Scoring currency. The card text says "gold" for both Solitary villagers, and that is the wording reproduced above. The BGG item description calls the scoring "silver". The coin icon on the cards is grey, but the printed text says gold, so this sheet follows the printed text.
  • Scoring timing. The BGG item description says the two Solitary villagers pay out in the final market phase. The cards do not print this timing, so it is not stated as a card rule above.
  • Missing base-game terms. The Solo Mode Reference uses terms such as the Countess village, the Road, the Reserve, the Bank, the food limit and the Winter deck. None of them is defined on the card. They belong to the base Villagers rulebook, which is not reproduced here.
  • Card count. The BGG photographs show two copies of each Solitary villager. This is the physical contents of the pack and is not a rule.
