Setup

The Gnoll cards form one Knoll Monster stack. Each card carries the Knoll area icon (the black hyena-head emblem in the upper right corner). The base rulebook says that every card in a Monster stack shares one Area icon.

  • A standard Knoll stack is 1 Gnoll Huntmaster, 3 Gnolls, 1 Gnoll Bonewitch and 1 Gnoll Pack Lord.
  • A large Knoll stack (5 players) adds a second Gnoll Huntmaster. This second copy is marked with a blue person icon showing the number 5 in the upper left corner.
  • The pack also contains a divider card titled "Knolls". It has no rules text. It is used to mark the Knoll stack.

Gap: the photographs do not show the printed setup instructions, so the stack composition above is the BGG item description. The base rulebook covers how Monster stacks are arranged.

Monster Cards

Each card below lists its printed stats in the order they appear on the card: the red shield (Strength), the purple shield (Victory Points), the blue drop (Magic), the gold coin (Gold), and the bottom-centre glyph. Stats are transcribed as printed.

Gnoll Huntmaster

  • Area icon: Knoll.
  • Strength (red shield): 7.
  • Victory Points (purple shield): 3.
  • Bottom-centre gold coin: 3.
  • No ability text.

The second copy of this card, used in a 5-player Knoll stack, is identical except for the blue person icon marked 5 in the upper left corner.

Gnolls

  • Area icon: Knoll.
  • Strength (red shield): 9.
  • Victory Points (purple shield): 3.
  • Bottom-centre blue C token.
  • No ability text.

Gnolls appear three times in a standard Knoll stack. The bottom-centre C token is printed on the card; the card does not name or explain it. The base rulebook defines the icons used in the Monster card anatomy.

Gnoll Bonewitch

  • Area icon: Knoll. A second, smaller icon of a hooded Gnoll head is printed below the Area icon. It is transcribed as an image only; the card does not name it.

  • Magic (blue drop): 2.

  • Strength (red shield): 3.

  • Victory Points (purple shield): 2.

  • Ability text:

    [red X over a blue C token] a [blue C token] and gain a [blue C token].

Gap: the first clause is a red X drawn over a blue C token. The photographs do not make legible what the red X refers to, or whether the X is part of the printed symbol or a mark on the token. The full meaning of this first clause is not transcribed. The second half ("a C and gain a C") is read as printed. Check the printed card before relying on this text.

Gnoll Pack Lord

  • Area icon: Knoll. A second, smaller icon of a horned Gnoll head is printed below the Area icon. It is transcribed as an image only; the card does not name it.

  • Magic (blue drop): 1.

  • Strength (red shield): 9.

  • Victory Points (purple shield): 4.

  • Bottom cost line, read left to right:

1 gold coin × [Knoll area icon] | [blue C token]

Gap: the card shows a cost line with a gold coin, a multiplication sign, the Knoll area icon, a vertical bar and a blue C token. The photographs do not make legible what this line means as a cost or reward, or what the vertical bar separates. The line is transcribed as printed. The card has no other ability text.
