Components
- 8 Secret Identity Cards
- 8 Suspect Cards
- 10 Tip-off Cards
- 98 Evidence Cards
- 1 First Player Card
Points: Each Evidence Card shows a number in its top corner. That number is the card's points value.
Setup
- Distribute Secret Identity Cards: Shuffle and deal one Identity Card face down to each player. Keep it secret.
- Reveal unpicked Secret Identity Cards (to make bluffing harder):
- 2-3 players: reveal 2 unpicked Identity Cards.
- 4-5 players: reveal 1 unpicked Identity Card.
- 6-8 players: reveal none.
- Set aside the Tip-offs: Shuffle the Tip-off cards, pick 6, and keep them face down. Return the rest to the box. These will be revealed from Round 5 onwards; they bring new drama.
- Set the Scene (Evidence Cards): Shuffle the Evidence cards. Lay out 8 cards face up (2 rows of 4) to form a grid.
- Choose a first player: preferably the last person who attended a wedding for free. This player will track the rounds and reveal the Tip-off Cards.
How to Play
Each turn, you must do ONE of the following:
Action 1: Remove Evidence
- Pick an Evidence Card from the Scene and place it face up in front of you.
- Each card shows some characters and a number in the top corner = points.
- At the end, you score points only for cards that show your Secret Identity. The rest? One Negative point per card.
Pro tip: Pick wisely. You can mislead your opponents, but at a cost!
At the end of the turn, replenish the Evidence Cards Grid.
Action 2: Accuse a Friend
Think you've figured out someone's secret identity?
- Choose the Suspect Card you think matches them.
- Pass it face down to that player.
- They will confirm with a "Yes" or a "No".
If Correct: They're out! You take their Identity Card = bonus points. Keep the captured Identity Card secret. Continue playing like the smart desi Sherlock you are.
If Wrong: Your accusation back-fired. Game over for you! Sit out the rest of the game and munch on some Jalebi. But you still score from whatever points you earned earlier. Keep your identity secret.
Important: Regardless of the outcome, return the Suspect Card to the deck and shuffle.
Round 5 Onwards: Reveal Tip-off Cards
Starting from Round 5, reveal one Tip-off Card at the beginning of each round. These can:
- Force you to discard a card.
- Reveal some information about the suspected identity.
- Shorten the game.
Sometimes they don't apply. When that happens: Yay!
Ending the Game
The game ends when either:
- Only 1 player is left, or
- Tip-off Cards run out.
Scoring
Score points from:
- Captured Identity Cards: the points shown on each Identity Card you captured (added).
- Evidence Cards with your identity in them: the points on each of those cards (added).
- Negative points from misleading Evidence Cards: -1 point for each Evidence Card you took that does not show your Secret Identity (subtracted).
Last player left is rewarded with 5 points.
Winner
Highest score = winner!
Ties? The person who got eliminated last wins. Or have a biryani-eating contest.
