How much do three or four upgraded buildings of one type in the same city produce?

Each upgraded building produces its own output, and the bonus (+1 resource and +1 point) is paid for every pair in that city. Three upgraded farms give 4 kelp and 4 points, four give 6 kelp and 6 points. The rulebook example ("at least 2") reads like one flat bonus; the designer ruled otherwise. Un-upgraded buildings each produce normally and never earn the bonus. Stacking many in one city costs end-scoring points.
