Preparation (Vorbereitung)
Before every game, all "Passiert'was" ("Something Happens") cards must be shuffled and stacked picture side down. Pay attention to the last card! The start cards are also shuffled and laid face down on the game table. Blank cards and "Neuerer" (Innovator) cards are set aside and can be used later as needed and according to individual experience.
Game Type (Spielart)
Who is the fastest to reach Wandlitz? It is not that simple, because 3 requirements must be met without starting money:
- You need a car, a telephone, and you must be in the Party (see also the legend on the back!).
So let's get started! (Also los - fangen wir an!)
Each player rolls for their birthplace, which is shown by a symbol (for example, Magdeburg), and places their figure on it. If a birthplace is already occupied, keep rolling until an empty space is reached. Whoever rolled the highest number begins and is the first to travel through the GDR.
But wait! (Doch HALT!)
Before the game really starts, one player must join the Stasi. Each player secretly draws one start card and keeps it for one game. Nobody knows who holds the Stasi card.
The race begins! (Der Wettlauf beginnt!)
Along the way, you can move freely within the given directions to earn money.
A car is bought at the car dealership (IFA), and a telephone at the post office. Soon you will notice that the money earned at the VEB fields is not enough at all. So try a "DM business" at a parking space. If you succeed, exchange your Deutsche Mark either 1:5 on the black market or 1:10 at the flea market into Mark. Unless you save 600 DM and buy your car directly at the Intershop.
Besides currency exchange, the black market also allows buying and selling of car registrations.
When you have enough Mark in your pocket, you buy a car and a telephone. On the Party symbol, you must join the Party and then pay Party dues at every state-owned enterprise (VEB). Whoever goes to prison is expelled from the Party. Trade and business are allowed with the player who is currently rolling the dice.
If you roll a 6, you move that many spaces and then roll again. If you land on an occupied space, you move the figure standing there back one space (applying the rules for that field!) and overtake without catching up.
Once the conditions are met, then on to Wandlitz...
If you are on the road to Wandlitz on the red Berlin fields, the Stasi member, whose identity was unknown until now, can send you to prison for one turn and thereby gain a short-term advantage.
