Object of the Game
Be the first player to bring your 4 dinosaurs onto the 4 HOME squares.
Setup
Each player chooses a colour and places their 4 dinosaurs on the START squares of the same colour. The Tyrannosaurus Rex is placed in its lair.
Each player rolls the three dice. The player who rolls the highest score goes first.
Playing the Game
On their turn, the player first rolls the three dice. They must move the Tyrannosaurus Rex first, by the number of squares shown on the black die.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex may be moved clockwise or counter-clockwise. It must always stay on the orange track.
After moving the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the player then moves their dinosaurs in one of the following ways:
- either move one dinosaur by the total shown on the two white dice;
- or move two dinosaurs: one dinosaur by the number shown on one white die, and the other dinosaur by the number shown on the second white die.
A player's dinosaurs must always move clockwise.
Attack
If a player's dinosaur lands on a square occupied by a dinosaur of another player, a combat takes place.
The player who owns the dinosaur that arrives on the occupied square rolls the three dice, then the other player rolls two dice. The player who makes the higher score wins the combat. In case of a tie, the player who rolled two dice is declared the winner.
The winning dinosaur stays on the square. The losing dinosaur must go to one of the squares of the violet track "river bed". If no square is free, the losing dinosaur returns to a START square.
When the combat is over, the turn of the attacking player ends.
Tyrannosaurus Rex
If the Tyrannosaurus Rex lands on a square where another dinosaur already stands, that dinosaur is captured and placed in the lair of the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The captured dinosaur may be freed as soon as its owner rolls a six with one of the two white dice on a later turn. Instead of moving one of their dinosaurs six squares, the player may use that six to free their dinosaur and place it on a free START square of its colour.
Pink Squares
The Tyrannosaurus Rex is not allowed to enter the pink squares located near the START and HOME squares. These squares are reserved for the other dinosaurs.
Violet Track "River Bed"
All dinosaurs may enter the violet track, except the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
A player's dinosaur may enter the river bed only if the player rolls a six with one of the two white dice. The player then moves that dinosaur six squares (taking the track as soon as it is on the bridge).
The Winner
The first player to place their 4 dinosaurs on each of the HOME squares of the same colour is the winner.
To place a dinosaur on a HOME square, the die must show the exact number needed to reach that square.
Simplified Rule
For younger players, the game may be simplified as follows:
- The Tyrannosaurus Rex moves only clockwise.
- Dinosaurs are not allowed to fight when they are on the same square.
