Object
tummple! – Build a unique structure and lure the other players into daring actions by cleverly placed wood bricks and tumps! Don't let the structure go to pieces, because then you have to hold onto these fallen bricks. Will you be the winner with the least bricks in-hand? Playing Tummple not only requires skill but also cleverness. Bricks are about to fall and rise again!
Setting Up and Building the Base
Leave the wood bricks and tumps in the box, as this will give you a better overview when bricks fall. Take out the two base pieces and place them on a flat surface, any portion of the two pieces touching. This base will serve as foundation of the structure for the entire game.
Right — any placement where the two base pieces touch each other along an edge or corner counts: overlapping at a corner, edge to edge in a straight line, forming a T-shape, joined flat along a long side, or overlapping off-center.
Wrong — placements where the two pieces do not properly touch: standing apart with a gap between them, offset in a line without touching, one piece turned diagonally against the other, or one piece stacked directly on top of the other.
How to Play – Rolling the Die
The die decides what and how to place.
- Wood brick on the small side: Place the wood brick on the small side.
- Wood brick upright: Place the wood brick upright.
- Wood brick on the wide side: Place the wood brick on the wide side.
- tummple! (choice): You choose – play a wood brick on any side.
- White tump: Take a white tump and place it on any wood brick. Now the players have fewer possibilities to place their bricks.
- Yellow tump: Take a yellow tump and place it on any wood brick. Once it is placed, that entire wood brick is out of play and no more bricks can be placed on top.
White tump: Blocks a certain area on the wood brick or base.
Yellow tump: Blocks an entire wood brick, you cannot place anything on it. If the die lands on a yellow tump (during the first few turns), without any wood bricks in play yet, the player must roll the die again.
Place a tump or wood brick. You choose where to place the tump or brick. You are not allowed to move any other tumps or bricks. Once the tump or brick has been placed, you can no longer make adjustments. Your turn is over and the next player continues.
Important!
- White tumps may be put down on the wood base.
- Yellow tumps may not be put down on the wood base.
- Wood bricks cannot be placed on an incline, only horizontal or vertical. But, if a part of a structure collapses during play and one or more brick(s) are leaning or tilted, play continues. However, you may not build on these bricks.
- Only remove fallen blocks, if they lie outside the base.
Collapsed Tower
If you cause any part of the structure to collapse before the next player has rolled the die, you have to keep all the fallen bricks, that don't touch the wood base. Any fallen tumps outside the base are put back into the box.
How to Win
The game ends when no bricks are left in the box. The player with the least number of wood bricks in-hand wins. If there is a tie (two or more players have the same number of bricks at the end of the game), they continue the play in the knockout round.
If you manage to use all the wood bricks in your tower, you are all winners!
The Knockout Round
Keep the existing structure in place. Put all the fallen bricks into the box. Then continue to play by rolling the die. The first player to knock down any bricks is eliminated from this round. You can win the game by succeeding in the knockout round(s).
