Can I use cube-modified dice to place a citizen in a building or build the Cathedral?
The card texts for Blacksmith, Priest, Apprenticeship and Confession list the buildings and Cathedral they cannot be used for.

Usually not. Value-changing cards forbid certain targets on their text: Blacksmith bars the Palace, Priest City Hall, and Apprenticeship and Confession the Bishopric, City Hall, Cathedral (the French rules also bar the Palace for Apprenticeship). Colour-changing cards such as Militia carry no ban, so a converted die can place a citizen in the Palace.
