Must I use a bought die immediately, and does it come to my district?
The rulebook says dice used in an action are discarded and are paid for per action; forum answers add that they can't be altered.

Yes, it must be used in the action it was bought for. It is not moved into your district and is discarded afterwards, so you can't hold it for later, nor reroll or flip it.
