Components
- 90 cards (9 types x 10 copies each)
- 3 chair styles: Shell, Ant, Sling
- 3 colours: White, Red, Black
- 1 reference card
- 45 score tokens (1/10, 2/20, 5/50 x 15)
- 1 starting player marker
1. Goal of the Game
Your objective is to "clear out" your hand by ending with only one type of card: all cards in your hand must share the same colour AND the same chair style.
When you clear out, you immediately score:
Score = (number of cards in your hand)
Players who do not clear out score 0 for the round.
Play continues over multiple rounds until a player reaches the target score shown on the reference card. Players may choose to increase the end game points and must be decided at the start of the game.
2. Setup
- Place the reference card where all players can see it.
- Choose a starting player and give them the starting player marker.
- Place all score tokens nearby.
- Shuffle all 90 cards thoroughly.
- Deal cards to each player according to the number of players:
Cards Dealt per Player Count
| Number of Players | Cards per Player | Game End Points Threshold |
|---|---|---|
| 3 players | 10 cards each | 100 points |
| 4 players | 9 cards each | 81 points |
| 5 players | 8 cards each | 64 points |
(These are starting hand sizes, not the hand maximum.)
- Place the remaining cards face-down as the draw pile.
- Reveal 8 cards from the draw pile and place them face-up in a 3 x 3 grid with the face-down deck in the centre. This is the Market.
- Reveal 1 card, face-up, from the deck, next to the Market. This is the Discard Pile (start with a single face-up card).
3. Taking Your Turn
On your turn, you must choose exactly one action: Action A or Action B. Action A is only allowed if you can legally discard. If you cannot legally discard, you must take Action B.
Action A. Take a Market Card, then Discard
- Choose 1 card from the 8-card Market and add it to your hand.
- Then discard one or more cards from your hand according to the discard rules (below).
- Refill the empty Market space by flipping the top card of the draw pile face-up.
Reminder: You may only choose Action A if you are able to discard at least one legal card before taking the Market card. If you cannot discard, you are not allowed to choose Action A.
Action B. Draw a Card (No Discard)
- Draw the top card of the draw pile and add it to your hand.
- Do not discard any cards.
You may always choose Action B. If you cannot legally discard, you must choose Action B.
4. Discard Rules (Critical)
The Core Principle: Every discard action must target exactly one chair type. You can never "mix and match" different chairs in a single discard, even if they share a colour.
When discarding (only during Action A):
You may discard exactly ONE card if it matches the top of the discard pile in:
- colour,
OR
- chair style
You may discard MULTIPLE (2+) cards only if:
- all cards you want to discard, in your hand, are identical (same colour AND same style), AND
- there is one matching attribute in the discard pile.
You may never discard multiple cards that have different attributes.
For Example: The Discard Pile shows: BLACK/SLING
| Your Hand | Action | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1x White Sling | LEGAL | Matches Type (Sling). |
| 3x Black Ants | LEGAL | Set is identical; matches Colour (Black). |
| 2x Red Slings | LEGAL | Set is identical; matches Type (Sling). |
| 1x White Ant | ILLEGAL | Matches nothing. |
| Red Sling + Black Sling | ILLEGAL | Never mix types, even if they share an attribute. |
5. Clear Out ("Going Out")
At the end of your turn, check your hand. If all cards in your hand share the same colour AND the same chair style, you must:
- Reveal your entire hand.
- Announce "Clear Out".
- Score points equal to the square of the number of cards in your hand (refer to reference card).
- Take the appropriate score tokens.
- Sit out for the rest of the round.
After revealing the cleared out hand, the player places these cards face-up in front of them. These cards remain visible and out of play until the end of the round. The player takes no further turns.
Players who have not cleared out continue playing.
* Clarification: The original Chinese rules do not specify what happens to the cards after revealing. This English version clarifies that the revealed cards remain face-up and out of play until the end of the round.
6. End of the Round
A round ends immediately when either:
- The draw pile is empty
Or
- Only one player has not cleared out
In either case, players are considered in the round and score 0 as they are unable to Clear Out.
Then:
- At the end of the round, collect all cards from all players (including the revealed sets) and reshuffle the deck.
- Pass the starting player marker to the left.
- Begin a new round (return to Setup step 4).
7. End of the Game
At the end of any round, if a player's total score reaches or exceeds the target shown on the reference card, the game ends.
| Players | Game End Points Threshold |
|---|---|
| 3 players | 100 |
| 4 players | 81 |
| 5 players | 64 |
If tied, the player who took their turn later in the final round ranks higher.
8. Notes and Clarifications
- There is no maximum hand size. Your hand may grow to 11, 12, 13+ cards, especially when forced to take Action B.
- You must check whether you can discard before choosing Action A.
- Discard legality is determined by identical cards in your hand vs. the face up card on the discard pile.
- You may never take a Market card without being able to discard at least one legal card from your hand, prior to taking a Market card.
