Object

Be the first player to collect six wedges by correctly answering questions about the 80's and STRANGER THINGS!

Watch Out for the Upside Down!

At different points during the game, you will flip the board between the Real World and the Upside Down. When you're in the Upside Down, you'll still earn wedges for correct answers, but you'll also lose wedges for wrong answers!

Get Ready!

  • Assemble the hinges by snapping the two parts of each hinge together as shown. Then insert the two hinges up through the slots in the gameboard, so they stick up above the gameboard.
  • Secure the middle board piece into the center of the gameboard as shown, attaching it to the hinges.
  • Lay the middle board piece flat so that the entire gameboard is in the Real World.
  • Each player or team chooses an empty wedge holder and places it on the portal space in the center of the gameboard.
  • Shuffle the cards and place them to the side of the board, along with the wedges.

Let's Play!

The player born furthest from November 6th, 1983 goes first, and then play moves to the left.

On Your Turn

  1. Roll the die and move that number of spaces in any one direction.

    • Did you roll a flip symbol? Then you (and all players) must move your wedge holder to the center portal space, flip the middle board piece, and answer a question! See THE UPSIDE DOWN / REAL WORLD section of the rules.
  2. Where did you land?

    • If you landed on a color space, the player to your right pulls the top card from the card holder and asks you the question that matches the color.
      • If you are correct, take a wedge and put it in your wedge holder. You can choose to roll again (on both sides of the board). But for a more challenging game, don't roll again!
      • If you are wrong, your turn is over, and it's the next player's turn...unless the board is flipped to the Upside Down, and then you also lose a wedge! See THE UPSIDE DOWN / REAL WORLD section of the rules.
    • If you landed on a portal space, you must flip the middle board piece before you answer a question! See THE UPSIDE DOWN / REAL WORLD section of the rules.

The Upside Down / Real World

  • If a player rolls a flip symbol or lands on a portal space, move all wedge holders to the center portal space, and then flip the middle board piece.
  • Now, the player who rolled the flip symbol or landed on the portal space chooses any category and answers the question from that category on the top card.
    • If you are correct, you gain a wedge and can choose to roll again.
    • If you are wrong, your turn is over, and it's the next player's turn...unless the board has been flipped to the Upside Down, when you also lose a wedge! (If you don't have any wedges, it's simply the next player's turn.)

Remember

  • If you roll a flip symbol or land on a portal space while the board is in the Real World, the board gets flipped to the Upside Down. It stays that way until someone either rolls a flip symbol or lands on a portal space to flip it back to the Real World.
  • If the board is in the Upside Down and you get a question wrong, you lose a wedge!

Don't Know the Answer? Walkie-Talkie a Friend!

  • If you are in the Real World and you don't know the answer to a question, you can walkie-talkie another player for help. When the board is in the Upside Down, you cannot walkie-talkie a friend.
  • If the other player agrees to help you and their answer is correct, you both collect a wedge, and it's the next player's turn.
  • If their answer is wrong, no one collects a wedge, and it's the next player's turn.

Winning

The first player to collect six wedges and fill their wedge holder wins! (You can win the game while you are in the Real World or the Upside Down.)

Notes

  • If you roll a number, you must move the exact number of spaces shown on the die.
  • If you roll a number, you may not move both clockwise and counterclockwise in the same move.
  • The center space counts as one space only. You can either move straight across it or "turn" and go down another spoke.
  • Any number of wedge holders may occupy the same space at the same time.

Putting the Game Away

Detach the middle board piece from the hinges, then remove the hinges from the bottom of the gameboard.
