Object of the Game

Be the first player to fill your wedge with the 6 differently colored marker triangles by answering questions correctly.

Contents

One board, 400 question-and-answer cards, 2 card boxes, a die, 6 wedges (pie pieces) and 36 colored marker triangles.

Setup

Each pack of cards contains a Guide card. Before starting to play, make sure this card is at the front of the box. When you have played a card, put it back at the back of the box. Continue this way until the Guide card reappears at the front of the box. Then take another pack of cards to play with. Make sure the cards are placed correctly.

  1. Each player chooses a wedge (camembert) and places it in the center of the board.
  2. Take two of the card packs and place one in each box.
  3. Roll the die to see who starts. The player with the highest score plays first.

Rolling the Die

  1. Roll the die.
  2. Move your wedge as many spaces as shown on the die.
  3. When you stop on a space: answer the question!

One of the other players takes a card from the front of the pack and reads the question corresponding to the color of the space on which the questioned player is standing. Each color corresponds to a category. The names of the categories appear on the sides of the game box. The answers to the questions are on the back of the cards. If during the game you stop on the center space of the board, you may choose the category from which the question will come.

A Correct Answer

When you answer a question correctly, your turn continues and you roll the die again. As long as your answers are correct, you roll the die, move your wedge and answer new questions.

A Wrong Answer

Sorry. If your answer is incorrect, your turn is over. The player on your left then rolls the die.

How to Move on the Board

At the start of the game, move from the center space of the board and use the "bridges" (spokes) to reach the circular track. On this track you may move in either direction. Always try to move so that you land on spaces whose theme suits you.

During a single move you may not retrace your steps. For example, if you roll 5, you cannot move 3 spaces to the left, stop, and set off 2 spaces to the right. However, on your next turn you may change direction relative to your previous move.

You may also use the "bridges" to get more quickly to the other side of the board.

You may stop on a space already occupied by another player.

The Marker Triangles

On the game board there are 6 Category Headquarters spaces, each with a large triangle of a different color drawn on it. When you answer a question correctly while on one of these spaces, take a marker triangle of the corresponding color and place it in your wedge. Then roll the die again and answer a new question.

If, on a Category Headquarters, your answer is incorrect, you must leave that space on your next turn and return later in the game to the same space to try again to win that marker triangle.

If later in the game you stop again on this space when you already have that marker triangle, treat the space as a simple colored space.

"Shortcut" Spaces

On the board there are 6 spaces, each with a small triangle of a different color drawn on it. When you stop on such a space, go directly to the Category Headquarters space of the same color. If you answer correctly the question you are asked, you win the marker triangle.

The Winner

When you have obtained all six differently colored marker triangles, go back to the center space of the board, knowing that you can only reach this space with an exact count, equal to the exact number on the die. If you do not reach this space with an exact count, you continue to play normally on the neighboring spaces.

When you are finally on this space, the other players (without looking at the questions on the next card) decide the category of the last question you must answer.

If your answer is incorrect, you must leave the center space on the following turn, to try to come back to it later in the same way.

If you answer the question correctly, you win the game!

Trivial Info

Adapting the Rules

At the start of the game, define the time allowed to players to think before answering. Also define the degree of precision required for an answer to be accepted. For example, you may decide that giving the family name is enough for the answer to be considered correct. But you may also decide that without the first name it is not correct. You may also choose to have different rules depending on the age of the players.

Quick Game

To play faster, you do not need to wait until you are on a Category Headquarters space to win a marker triangle. Each correct answer wins you the triangle of the color corresponding to the space. The "Shortcut" space is used as in the normal version of the game.

Winning Streaks

Since you roll the die again each time you answer a question correctly, you can win your six differently colored marker triangles on your very first turn. If this happens, any player who has not yet rolled the die may try to equal your feat and force a draw.
