They alternate. In Initiative order each player places one Character and immediately spends all its AP before the next player places one. Unspent AP cannot be saved, and two Apprentices cannot pool AP to afford a 2 AP action, though a shard or a Special Assignment card can add the missing AP. Magicians on Performance slots resolve later, in weekday order.
