- 44 number cards — each card has a purple side and a yellow side with different values. The sum of both values on a card is always 45 (for example, one card shows yellow with a value of 44 and purple with a value of 1)
- 4 equilibrium cards
Setup
Each player takes an equilibrium card. Place it in front of you and return all unused equilibrium cards to the box.
Shuffle all the number cards and deal out:
- 11 cards each for 2-3 players
- 10 cards each for 4 players
Put any remaining cards aside without looking at them. You will not need them until the next round.
How to Play
You will play several rounds. Each round consists of several tricks.
If you were the last player to go stargazing, you start the first round and play a card of your choice face up. Decide whether you want to play this card as a purple or a yellow card. Announce the color you have chosen and place your card on the table so the chosen color points towards the center. All other players must follow suit. This means that, in clockwise order, everyone must play a card using the same color as the first player's card. The other color on the card no longer plays a role.
Once every player has played a card, that completes the trick. Whoever played the highest value of the chosen color wins the trick.
If you win the trick, take all the cards played in that trick and place them in a face-down pile next to your equilibrium card. Place the pile next to the side that corresponds to the color of the trick.
Important: Make sure to keep your piles separate from each other so that the number of tricks you have won in each color is always visible to everyone.
The player who won the last trick leads the next one by playing any one of their cards as described above.
Example
Dejima announces "Yellow," and plays a 20. Toshinori plays a 10 and Miku a 33 in yellow. Miku wins the yellow trick. She places the cards as a pile next to the yellow side of her equilibrium card. She now leads the next trick.
Round End
The round ends once you have played all your cards.
Now, compare the number of yellow tricks and purple tricks you have won this round. The difference between them determines whether you win or lose points for this round.
Did you win exactly as many purple tricks as yellow tricks? Then you score 1 point for each trick you won.
Example: Miku has two yellow and two purple tricks. She scores 4 points.
Do you have an unequal number of purple and yellow tricks? Calculate the difference between your purple and yellow tricks. This is how many points you lose.
Example: Toshinori has two yellow tricks and one purple trick. He therefore loses 1 point.
Note down your points and set up the next round: shuffle all the number cards — including the cards you placed aside — and deal out new hands. Keep your equilibrium card in front of you.
The player sitting to the left of the person who started the last round begins the new round.
Game End
Play as many rounds as there are players. After the last round, add up your individual points. Whoever has the most points wins the game.
In case of a tie, all tied players share the victory.
2-Player Game
If you're playing with two players, the following rules apply:
At the end of each round, compare the difference between the number of tricks you won in each color. Whoever has the smaller difference between their purple and yellow tricks wins the round.
Once a player has won two rounds, they win the game.
