- 16 brown cards (with the symbol II on the back)
- 10 totem cards
- 24 explorers
- 13 rocks

Totem card examples shown on the components page:
- "Each of your sundials is worth 1 point more."
- "Each explorer left to you at the end of the game is worth 1 point."
- "Move 1 rock down by 1 chamber."
Setup
A. Place the temple in the middle of the table. The spaces on it are called chambers.
B. Place the rocks next to the temple.
C. Divide the treasure cards into 2 decks according to the symbols on the backs (I and II), then:
- shuffle deck II and place it below the temple (face down),
- shuffle deck I and place it on top of deck II (face down).
Leave an empty space next to the deck. During the game you will lay out treasure cards here.
D. Divide the explorers equally among the players: 2 players: 12 explorers each; 3 players: 8 explorers each; 4 players: 6 explorers each. Explorers lie on the table in front of the players (they are visible to opponents).
E. Designate a place on the table where you will put explorers used during the game. This place is called the camp.
F. Shuffle the totem cards thoroughly. Then reveal 5 cards and place them in a row above the temple. Put the remaining 5 cards back in the box; they will not take part in the game.
G. Toss the torch so that it falls on the table. The player indicated by the handle of the torch takes it. They start the game as the torch keeper.
Goal of the Game
During the game you will collect treasures. For some of them you will get positive points, and for others negative points! The winner is the person who earns the most points for the collected treasures.
Course of Play
The game lasts 8 rounds. Each round is divided into 3 stages:
- Discovering treasures
- Sending explorers
- Obtaining treasures
After stage 3 the round ends and you begin the next round.
1. Discovering Treasures
Reveal 4 cards from the top of the treasure deck and place them in a row. These are the treasures whose trail has been found in the temple. In a moment the players will send their explorers to get them!
2. Sending Explorers
- Each player secretly chooses any number of their explorers (they may also choose none). This is the group of explorers sent to the temple. Hold them in one hand and hide the rest in the other hand. Note! Do this in such a way that your rivals do not know how many explorers you have in your hands!
- All players simultaneously reveal the chosen explorers. Explorers held in the other hand are placed in front of you again.
- A player who sent no explorers to the temple takes all the explorers from the camp. If several players sent no one to the temple, they share the explorers from the camp equally.
Note! At the start of the game there are no explorers in the camp yet (all are with the players). Players who send no explorers in the first round therefore do not take any new ones from the camp.
3. Obtaining Treasures
The order of searching the temple is determined by the number of explorers sent. The player who sent the most begins, followed by the other players according to the number of explorers sent. In case of a tie, the torch keeper begins, or the player sitting closer to his left side.
On their turn a player does the following:
- Puts all the explorers they sent to the temple into the camp.
- Then takes 1 of the revealed treasure cards and places it in front of them (face up). Empty spaces left by taken cards are not refilled: the first player therefore chooses from 4 cards, the second player from 3 cards, and so on. If you want a particular treasure card, it is worth sending more explorers to the temple in order to get the card before your rivals.
Note! The player or players who sent no explorers to the temple take 1 treasure card each last (the torch keeper begins, or the player sitting closer to his left side).
Symbols on Treasure Cards
If there is a symbol at the top of the card taken, the player performs the appropriate action:
Rock. This symbol means that 1 chamber of the temple has collapsed. Take 1 rock and place it on any chamber; it is excluded from the game. Note! If only 1 uncollapsed chamber remains in a given colour, it cannot be covered with a rock!
Totem. Choose 1 totem card from those lying above the temple and place it face up in front of you. The symbol at the bottom of the card shows when it can be used: one symbol means immediately, the other means at the end of the game (when counting points).
Obtaining Treasures: 2 Players
In a two-player game the players choose 1 treasure card each in turn, starting with the one who sent more explorers to the temple. They place the chosen cards in front of them (face up).
Obtaining Treasures: 3 Players
In a three-player game 1 revealed treasure card will not be chosen by the players. Put it in the box. If it has a rock symbol, the player who sent the most explorers to the temple that round places the rock on a chamber of the temple of their choice.
End of the Round
After the round ends, the torch is taken by the player who took a treasure card last in that round. They become the torch keeper and will begin play in the new round.
Example Round
Four players: Czarek, Karolina, Paweł and Patrycja. Cards revealed are A, B, C and D. Czarek sits at one end of the table and Paweł is nearest his left.
- 4 treasures were revealed.
- The players sent their explorers to the temple. All players reveal how many explorers they sent: Czarek: 4, Karolina: 2, Paweł: 0, Patrycja: 0. Paweł and Patrycja therefore take explorers from the camp and share them equally. There are 7 explorers in the camp, so they take 3 each and 1 stays in the camp.
- The players obtain treasures.
- Czarek sent the most explorers, so he obtains treasures first: he puts the sent explorers into the camp and chooses 1 of the treasure cards. He chose card A. At the top of the card is a totem symbol, so Czarek chooses 1 totem card. Then he places both cards face up in front of him.
- Karolina sent the second-largest group, so she obtains treasures second: she puts the sent explorers into the camp and chooses 1 of the remaining cards. She chose card D and places it face up in front of her.
- Paweł and Patrycja sent no explorers, so they obtain treasures at the end. Paweł sits closer to the left side of the torch keeper (Czarek), so he obtains treasures before Patrycja: he chooses 1 of the 2 available cards. He chose card C. At the top of the card is a rock symbol, so he places 1 rock on a chamber of the temple of his choice. He places the chosen treasure card face up in front of him.
- Patrycja obtains a treasure last. She takes the last available card, B, and places it face up in front of her. Finally she takes the torch: in the next round Patrycja will be the torch keeper.
End of the Game
The game ends at the end of the round in which the treasure card deck runs out.
Before the players count their points, a player who has the totem card "perform the action of another totem card used during the game" carries out its action: they point to 1 of the totem cards used during the game and perform its action. Note! This card can badly upset the players' plans. If you value greater control of the game, play without this card and skip the above rule.
Totem card: "Perform the action of another totem card used during the game."
Then the players count the points earned:
- for explorers,
- for treasure cards.
The totem cards also affect the number of points earned; they are described below.
The winner is the player who earned the most points. In case of a tie, the player with more explorers left wins.
Points for Explorers
Each pair of explorers left to a player at the end of the game = 1 point.
Totem card: "Each explorer left to you at the end of the game is worth 1 point." If a player has this card, they additionally get 1 point for each explorer.
Points for Treasure Cards
When counting points for the individual kinds of treasures, players check what value is visible on the temple.
Statuette
- Points are earned by the player who has the most statuettes (the symbol on the orange chambers reminds of this).
- The player earns the number of points visible on the orange chamber. In the example in the rulebook the player would get 8 points.
- In case of a tie for the most statuettes, all tied players get the number of points visible on the orange chamber.
Sundial
- Points are earned by every player who has sundials.
- For each sundial players earn the number of points visible on the blue chamber. In the example the players would get 3 points for each sundial.
- Totem card: "Each of your sundials is worth 1 point more." If a player has this card, they get 1 point more for each sundial.
Feathered Shield
- Points are earned by every player who has feathered shields.
- For each feathered shield players earn the number of points visible on the pink chamber. In the example the players would get 6 points for each feathered shield.
- Totem card: "Each of your feathered shields is worth 3 points more." If a player has this card, they get 3 points more for each feathered shield.
Snake
- Points are earned by every player who has snakes.
- For each snake players earn the number of points visible on the green chamber. In the example the players would get 2 points for each snake.
- Totem card: if a player has this card, they get 3 points for each snake.
Skull
- Points are earned by the player who has the most skulls (the symbol on the brown chambers reminds of this).
- The player earns the number of points visible on the brown chamber. In the example on page 10 of the rulebook the player would get -10 points.
- In case of a tie for the most skulls, all tied players get the number of points visible on the brown chamber.
- Totem card: "Cancel 2 of your skulls." If a player has this card, they reduce their number of skulls by 2.
Remember that points for statuettes and skulls are earned only by those players who have the most of these treasures. For the other treasures, all players earn points.
