Changes During Set-Up

Mix the goblin specialists with the goblin tiles of the basic game and stack them below the game board.

Goblin Specialists

Each specialist is a goblin tile. It shows a paw quality (the goblin's strength), a coin value (the value of coins lost if the goblin is not kept at bay), and an ability icon. The paw quality and coin value of each specialist are printed on its tile; the basic game rules for goblins apply to them unchanged.

Greedy Goblin – paw quality 1, coin value 1 (copper). Ability icon: a red arrow with a copper coin worth 1. Ability: steals 1 coin from everybody. (Effect wording taken from the BoardGameGeek description of this expansion; the insert shows only the icon.)

Scout Goblin – paw quality 1, coin value 3 (gold). Ability icon: a red crossed-out card. Ability: everybody discards 1 of the 9 cards. (Effect wording taken from the BoardGameGeek description of this expansion; the insert shows only the icon.)

Buddy Goblin – paw quality 2, coin value 1 (copper). Ability icon: a plus sign with a goblin. Ability: adds a 4th goblin. (Effect wording taken from the BoardGameGeek description of this expansion; the insert shows only the icon.)

Goblin Captain – paw quality 2, coin value 2 (silver). Ability icon: a "+1" paw with a goblin. Ability: the other goblins get +1 paw quality. (Effect wording taken from the BoardGameGeek description of this expansion; the insert shows only the icon.)

Clumsy Goblin – paw quality 1, coin value 2 (silver) on the rules insert. Ability icon: a "−1" paw with a goblin. Ability: the other goblins get −1 paw quality. (Effect wording taken from the BoardGameGeek description of this expansion; the insert shows only the icon.)

Discrepancy: the tile sheet printed for this expansion shows the Clumsy Goblin's coin value as 1 (copper), not 2 (silver) as on the rules insert. This transcription uses the rules insert's value of 2 (silver). Check the physical tile before relying on it.

Brute Goblin – paw quality 5, coin value 3 (gold). Ability icon: none. Ability: no special effect.
