Overview
- Other than the differences listed here, all rules of the base game still apply.
- Denver's downtown is at a 45° angle from the rest of the city.
- The Commercial buildings are smaller; however, they work just as they do in the base game, and form a single building.
- The Zoo, Airport, and Rocky Mountain Arsenal function a little differently….
Setup
- This map only uses the A, B, C, D, F, G, and H Parcel cards; return the other Parcel cards to the box.
- As usual, each space of each building gets 1 Passenger, so the Rocky Mountain Arsenal gets 4 Passengers, and the Downtown Commercial buildings gets 3 Passengers.
- The Denver Zoo and Airport have just been built, so they do not start with Passengers.
Phase 2: Actions
A. Build or Upgrade Rails
- The 45° slant of downtown has no effect on rail construction, as you can see in the example at the end of the page.
- You cannot Build Rails through the Denver Zoo, the 2 ponds, or the Airport.
- The Denver Zoo and Airport are treated like Buildings, but because they are not green, red, yellow, or blue (nor are they Parcels), you will not be able to use them as Destinations.
C. Move a Passenger
- As soon as the 45° downtown Commercial Buildings are connected to other things, Passenger movement to, from, and through this single, big Commerce building work just like normal.
- Because the Zoo and Airport do not have a normal color, they cannot be Destinations for Passengers.
- Passing through the Zoo or Airport counts just like passing through a normal building: The link that connected the Passenger to this Building, and the link that connects the Passenger to the next Building earn their respective owners 1 HP.
- When you take your Destination bonus, if the Passenger passed through the Zoo, you reduce your Stress 1 space on the track.
Example: Some examples of construction connecting to downtown Denver….
A passenger in the Residence can move to Parcel D2. Green plays a Magnetic Strip, and the Parcel D2 icon as a destination. He moves the Passenger along the path (a)-(b)-(d), and gains 3 HP, reduces his Stress by 1 (because the Passenger passed through the Zoo), and finally earns $3. He did not have the option to follow the path (a)-(b)-(c)-(e), because it would require passing through the same Building (the downtown Commerce) twice. He also could not have left the Passenger at the Zoo, because there are no Zoo Destination icon on any cards!
Phase 3: Administration
- You can use an Add 1 Passenger icon to add a Passenger to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, the Airport, or even the Zoo!
End of Round
- The Airport receives 1 Passenger each turn, regardless of the number of Passengers there already.
- The Zoo and the Rocky Mountain Arsenal never receive new passengers (even if Industry would restock).
Round 6
- Although the Rocky Mountain Arsenal is an Industry in Rounds 1–5, in Round 6, it becomes a Leisure Building, which means that it requires a Leisure icon to travel to it, but it also grants the Leisure Building bonus!
