Components

• A folder with 1 rules sheet and 15 case sheets
• A map of Siren Bay, divided into a grid of 9 zones
• A deck of 55 numbered camera cards
• A tourist map of the city

Getting Started

• Launch the Tracks: Siren Bay app and choose a case. (The app's user manual is on the back of the case folder.)

  Note: The cases can be played in any order you like. However, to fully enjoy the game experience, we suggest playing the cases in order.

• Unfold the map and place it in the center of the table so the whole squad can see it.

• Take the sheet for the chosen case and read the briefing carefully.

• Place the deck of camera cards face down on the table.

• When the whole squad is ready to listen to the audio track, press the PLAY button on the KYF SYSTEM 3000.

  For the first listen, the audio track will play without interruption. Afterward, if needed, you can replay it in full or replay only the passages of your choice.

• At the end of the first listen, the app will display the question the squad must answer to solve the case.

The hunt can begin...

Warning: some cases are timed. You will need to think fast to succeed perfectly. However, you may continue searching for the solution and submit an answer even after the timer has ended.

During the Game

You may:

• Replay the audio track on the app. You can rewind, fast-forward, and listen to any part of the track, as many times as you want.

• View the camera cards to look more closely at certain locations in the city. You may turn face up the camera card of whichever number you choose.

  Warning: you may have at most 4 camera cards face up at the same time. If there are already 4 camera cards face up on the table and you want to look at another one, you must turn one face down and put it back in the deck.

  Note: the camera cards correspond to what is happening in Siren Bay at a given moment. The squad should pay attention to when each case takes place, because depending on the time, the same thing may not be happening.

• Answer the question once the squad thinks it has found the right solution. In the app, press the ANSWER button; the map will then be displayed on screen. Choose the location where you want to intervene, then press CONFIRM.

  Note: if your answer is incorrect, you can continue the investigation or view the solution in the PAUSE menu.

• Ask for help by pressing the HINT button.

Statement of Intent

The use of cameras and wiretaps in a city allows us to create game situations and immerse players in a police fiction. That said, in real life, the creators of Tracks and the KYF Édition team do not endorse their use to monitor and restrict freedoms. In our view, the budgets allocated each year by local authorities would be better spent on Education, Social Services, Culture, or Sport.

Between 2010 and 2017, revenue in the video surveillance sector was multiplied by 2.4. Between 2010 and 2018, the number of video surveillance cameras across French territory, according to the National Police and the Gendarmerie, was multiplied by 3.3.
