Setup

  • Draw 5 Theme cards at random and stack them face down on the table.
  • Place one token per player in the unicorn zone of the board.
  • Whoever is the funniest player becomes CAP'TEN for round 1 (for round 2, it passes to the player on their left, and so on).

Let's go! A game lasts 5 rounds.

Playing a Round

  1. The CAP'TEN takes the top Theme card and reads one of its two prompts aloud.

  2. The CAP'TEN shuffles the 10 Number cards and deals one face down to every player, themselves included.

  3. The CAP'TEN answers first; then the other players, in any order, each invent and announce an answer that matches their secret number.

THE INTENSITY OF AN ANSWER DEPENDS ON THE NUMBER, FROM 1 (LOW END OF THE SCALE) TO 10 (HIGH END OF THE SCALE).

  4. The CAP'TEN then tries to guess the order of the answers, from lowest number to highest:

    • The CAP'TEN points to a player.
    • That player turns their Number card face up on the board.
    • Repeat until every player's card is revealed, including the CAP'TEN's own.
    • If a revealed card is lower than the one before it, move one token from the unicorn zone to the poop zone. The round continues regardless.
  • At any point, if every token has moved to the poop zone, the game is lost.
  • If any token remains in the unicorn zone after round 5, the game is won.

Have fun!

Example (5 Players)

Theme prompt: "It's your turn on call in the ER, and a patient arrives with an object stuck in their rectum! Which one? From least to most severe."

Each player invents and announces an answer according to their secret number, from 1 (least severe) to 10 (most severe): number 3 answers "a cotton swab," number 1 answers "an ice cube," number 5 answers "a candy cane," number 7 answers "a selfie stick," number 10 answers "a jet ski."

The CAP'TEN tries to put the answers back in order:

  • "A cotton swab." The player who gave that answer places their 3 card face up on the board.
  • "An ice cube." The 1 card is placed above it. That's a mistake: a token moves to the poop zone.
  • "A candy cane." The 5 card is placed above (5 is higher than 1, so no problem).
  • And so on, calling "a selfie stick" (7), then "a jet ski" (10).

By the end of the round, one token is in the poop zone.

9-Player Rule

  • Start with 8 tokens in the unicorn zone: there will only be 8 answers per round.
  • The CAP'TEN has no number and does not invent an answer. They only have to guess the order of the other players' answers.

Clarifications

  • Number cards that were not dealt stay hidden.
  • Move a token to the poop zone ONLY if the PREVIOUS card was higher: for example, the 4 card is revealed, then the 2 card — a token moves to the poop zone. But if the 3 card is revealed next, that's fine (it's higher than 2).

Answers:

  • The goal is to answer — in words, by acting it out, or otherwise — while staying on the theme. Stating your card's number, even indirectly, is forbidden. For example, holding the number 3, you cannot say "it's 3 degrees out" or reference "the three little pigs."
  • You may repeat your answer, but you may not change it.

New round:

  • Gather all the Number cards back up: the ones on the board and the ones that weren't dealt.
  • Leave the tokens where they are.

Rate Your Official Level

Based on the tokens remaining at game end:

Tokens at game endLevel
All poops"That's a flop... was that just the warm-up?"
More poops than unicorns"Honorable: run it back, you'll surely do better!"
As many or more unicorns than poops"Professionals: nice work, you've got a good handle on this!"
All unicorns"Champions: that's a perfect score, nothing can stop you! Try the EXPERTS variant!"

Experts Variant (4-8 Players)

For more experienced groups.

Make the following adjustments (everything else stays the same):

  • During step 4 of a round:

    • Before pointing to a player, the CAP'TEN must announce the exact value of the card about to be revealed. Each wrong announcement moves one token to the poop zone.
    • The CAP'TEN does not reveal their own card.

Notes: ascending order no longer matters, and the CAP'TEN may announce the same number more than once.

  • Once every other player's Number card has been revealed on the board, those players must agree on the CAP'TEN's card number.

    • If they guess correctly, one token moves back from the poop zone to the unicorn zone.
    • If they're wrong, no additional token is lost.
  • Then a new round begins.

Play at your own risk!

Example: Round 1 is almost over: the CAP'TEN correctly guessed the exact number for 3 of their 4 teammates. Now, if the teammates guess the value of the CAP'TEN's card, the lost token is recovered. If they're wrong, nothing happens.
