Set-up
To include The Gearloc Child content in your game, simply add the Day 1 Part 1 Special Encounter "The ManDaelorean" to the top of your Encounter Deck during set-up. Place all other contents of this expansion nearby.
The Gearloc Child and his dice are acquired through the 5 "Cradle" Loot cards that you'll be instructed to add to your Loot Deck during Day 1.
When acquired, The Child is treated as heavy Loot that cannot for any reason be traded, discarded, or removed from the Gearloc carrying him.
The Child only gets 1 of his Skill Dice when he is acquired. The other 2 Skill Dice should be kept in the carrying Gearloc's storage tray until they are acquired through further Cradle Loot.
Treat The Child's mat as an extension of the Gearloc carrying him. His Skill Dice are used as if they belong to the carrying Gearloc, but they do not cost Dex to roll. The Child's Skill Dice are exhausted after use and returned to The Child's mat after battle.
The Gearloc Child's Dice Skills
The Child's six skill dice faces are listed below. The small number in the corner of each die is the skill level printed on the card.
Level 1 (red dice)
Faces: 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3.
Forceful Distraction # (L): Roll before battle. If you would take damage that would KO you, avoid the damage and instead heal for # HP. Exhaust at the end of the first round.
Level 2 (orange dice)
Faces: heart 2, heart 2, heart 3, heart 3, heart 3, heart 4.
Snack Ribbits (I): Heal yourself for # HP. Then, place a Poison 1 Effect Die on yourself.
Level 3 (green dice)
Faces: three faces with a cross-shaped symbol and three faces with a double-chevron arrow symbol, each marked 3.
Deflect Effect (L): The next time you would gain a Status Effect Die and are adjacent to another unit, the Status Effect Die is placed on the adjacent unit instead of yourself.
Special Encounter: The ManDaelorean
Gearloc Child - Special 001. Day 1, Part 1.
After weeks of preparation, everything is ready for the journey to hunt the latest tyrant. Before Obendar can be left behind, however, a new poster tacked up outside the Tipsy Troll Tavern catches the eye. It appears the Gearloc Council has some interest in locating a young Gearloc boy with... unusual abilities. For some reason, the likeness on the poster seems familiar.
Clearly, if the Council has a bounty on the child, something devious is afoot. While on the trail of the tyrant, it's probably a good idea to be on the lookout for this kid and keep him under protection. The poster says he was last seen swimming out in Bay Beeyota. Let's check the map... Oh! This is the way.
Only Option: "He's just a baby."
Party decides to search for signs of a baby Gearloc rumored to be living in the Daelorean countryside.
Shuffle the 5 Cradle Loot Cards into the Loot Deck. Immediately draw and proceed (yet today) with the Day 1 Encounter from the top of the Encounter Deck.
Loot: Cradle (Single-use)
