Heart of the City
The Heart of the City is very a special addition to the game that introduces the large miniature of an angel’s statue as well as an additional 50 stories and 5 cards. This huge, destroyed monument will symbolize the “heart” of the destroyed city, where people tend to gather and where you never know what to expect. In terms of rules, this is a whole new location that you will be able to visit.
After Scavenging, you will decide if you want to also visit the center of the city or if the detour is too risky, BUT you will never know what to expect there. Your experience there will be either positive or negative, but you will never know until you decide to go there.
The Heart of the City is our final effort to bringing an even greater sense of immersion into the game. This monument is meant to symbolize something of which the city was once proud – something beautiful representing the values of the local community. We want to show how much a war can steal such values and twist everything in a horrible way. As the title goes, this monument is the heart of the city. But this heart has been torn to pieces.
Each time, after you have finished Scavenging (but before the Choose Findings stage), you may decide to visit the square where the Heart of the City is located. If you decide to do so, draw 1 card from the Heart of the City deck and resolve it.
After you have resolved the card, remove it from the game.
If there are no more cards left in the Heart of the City deck, it becomes unavailable for the rest of this Campaign.
The Heart of the City Addon refers to the three Chapters system (Events deck), so it can only be used when playing Campaign mode.
Note: The Heart of the City scripts contain graphic descriptions in several places.
