60 cards, game rules.
Principle of the Game
On each turn a card is turned over. It reveals the letter with which the word to be found must begin, and the category to which it must belong. The first player to find a word matching the category wins the card. Then a new card is turned over...
The player who collects the most cards wins the game.
Setup
Place the cards in a pile in the centre of the table, category side visible.
Gameplay
On their turn, each player turns over the top card of the deck and places it beside the deck, letter side visible.
Each card shows 3 letters, each in a different colour. Only one of these 3 letters corresponds to the colour of the category shown on the top card of the deck.
The first player to announce aloud a word that begins with this letter and belongs to this category wins the card that was turned over.
Example: The category is Animal, in orange. The letter associated with orange on the adjacent card is "O". The first player to find an animal whose name begins with "O" wins the card: ouistiti, oiseau, otarie, ours...
Then a new turn begins: the next player turns over the top card of the deck, and so on.
End of the Game
The winner is the player who has collected the largest number of cards when no more than one card remains in play (this last card is not counted).
Clarifications:
- In case of a dispute over an answer, the players vote by majority to decide whether it is accepted or not.
- An answer that was already validated during a previous turn must not be used again. Nevertheless, if nobody notices, so much the better for the player concerned! To simplify the game, especially with younger players, the players may decide that the same word can be validated several times.
- If no answer appears after about thirty seconds, or if it is impossible to determine who answered first, the card is not won by anyone: it is put back into play for the next turn (there will then be 2 cards to win).
Themes
The categories used on the cards are:
- Celebrity: a person well known in their field (singing, history, people, acting, sport...), fictional or real, alive or not. The letter must be the first letter of the person's surname or first name.
- Film & TV: the title of a film, a series, a television programme or a video game.
- Animal
- Food (Nourriture)
- First name (Prénom)
- Object
- Profession (Métier)
- City (Ville)
- Country (Pays)
- Plant (Végétal)
