Components

  • 44 gamepieces, in four colors (orange, green, blue, purple) and different sizes (x-large, large, medium, small, and the small "T" piece)
  • 1 three-dimensional, terraced game board
  • 1 rules booklet

Object of the Game

To capture your opponent's "T" gamepiece (the small piece marked with a T) OR to move your own "T" to the lowest square on the opposite side of the board.

Setting Up the Board

2-Player Games

Full-Length Game (30-120 min.)

Orange & green: use 16 gamepieces each (4 x-large / 4 large / 4 medium / 3 small & 1 small "T").

Short Game (15-30 min.)

Orange & green: use 6 gamepieces each (1 x-large / 2 large / 2 medium / 1 small "T").

3- & 4-Player Games

Full-Length Game (30-60 min.)

Orange, green, blue & purple: use 6 gamepieces each (1 x-large / 2 large / 2 medium / 1 small "T").

How to Begin

Once the gamepieces are set up on their terraces as shown on the box diagrams, orange moves first. Players then alternate moves clockwise.

How to Move

On the Same Terrace

In a single turn, a gamepiece can move any number of squares to any vacant square on the same terrace. It can jump over (without capturing or removing) one or more of its own gamepieces, but it cannot jump over an opponent's gamepiece. A gamepiece can never cross the board diagonally at the center.

Up a Terrace

A gamepiece can move straight up or diagonally up, one square at a time, to a vacant square on the terrace above it.

Down a Terrace

A gamepiece can move only straight down, one square at a time, to a vacant square on the terrace below it. The gamepiece may not move down diagonally — a move reserved only for capturing.

How to Capture

A capture can be made only by moving diagonally down, one square, to the terrace below, to a square occupied by a gamepiece of the same size or smaller. The captured gamepiece can be an opponent's or the player's own. This strategy of sacrificing, or cannibalizing, one's own gamepiece can effectively protect a larger (more valuable) one or enable the larger one to escape an opponent's trap. The captured gamepiece is removed from the board.

Courtesy

It is courteous to announce "Terrace" when you put an opponent's "T" in jeopardy of being captured on your next move and to announce "Terrace-mate" when that "T" cannot escape and you have won the game.

3- & 4-Player Games

When a player loses his/her "T", that player's pieces are removed from the board. Other players continue the game.

Draws

If a player cannot make a move during his/her turn, the game is a draw, with no winner and no loser.
