Game Contents

  • 27 cards: 9 row cards, 9 column cards, 9 sector cards
  • 1 die
  • 6 pencils
  • 1 pad - 50 player sheets

Setup

  1. Give each player a pencil and a player sheet.
  2. Shuffle all the cards, randomly remove 7 of them and return them to the box. The remaining 20 cards form the draw deck.
  3. Place the die and the draw deck in the middle of the table.

Additional player sheets can be downloaded and printed from the publisher's website.

How to Play

At the start of each turn, flip the top card of the draw deck and roll the die. All players simultaneously and secretly draw a shape using the card and the die result.

  • The flipped card determines the place you will use this turn: a row, a column, or a 3x3 sector.
  • The die roll determines which shape each player must draw on their player sheet.
  • You must draw the shape shown on the die so that at least one square of the shape occupies at least one square of the row/column/sector indicated on the card. Note: If the wild symbol is rolled on the die, each player may choose and draw any one of the five shapes.

When you draw a shape:

  • You may rotate or flip it in any direction.
  • You may not draw only part of it, place any part of it outside the grid, or draw it over a previously drawn shape.
  • If you do not have enough room to place the shape correctly, you must skip your turn.

Once everyone has had the opportunity to draw a shape, begin a new turn by flipping a card and rolling the die. Continue in this way until all 20 cards have been flipped. Then count your points!

Example of Play

It is the fourth turn of the game. In the first turn, the card indicated the first sector and the square shape was rolled on the die (in the examples these shapes are marked in black).

In the second turn (marked in red) the card indicated column 3 and the L shape was rolled.

In the third turn (marked in blue) the card indicated row A and the long 1x4 shape was rolled.

In the fourth turn the wild symbol was rolled and the card indicated the fifth sector. Each player chooses which shape to draw, but must place it entirely or partially in the fifth sector (these shapes are marked in green).

  • Adam draws the L shape, which he places only partially in the fifth sector, but it nicely completes the rest of his drawn shapes.
  • Betka draws the T shape, trying to stay close to the rest of her drawing.
  • Cyril draws the square shape, keeping away from the previous drawing and hoping to complete his plan in later turns.
  • Dan draws the L shape, mostly in the fifth sector and as close as possible to the rest of his drawing.

Scoring

Each player scores points according to the number of filled sectors, columns and rows of their grid:

FilledPoints
Sector3
Row1
Column1

The player with the highest total of points wins. In case of a tie, the tied player who has the fewest empty squares on their sheet wins.

Solo Game

Simply try to score as many points as possible!

  • 10 or fewer points - You are capable of more!
  • 11-15 points - You are on the right track!
  • 16-24 points - Tedoku Champion.
  • 25-40 points - Tedoku Black Belt.
  • 41 or more points - You are cheating!

Scoring Example

The game is over. During the game Adam twice could not place a shape, so he drew a total of 18 shapes on his sheet and was left with 9 empty squares (marked with a green dot). As shown in the picture, he filled 6 sectors, 5 columns (1, 2, 4, 5, 6) and 4 rows (A, B, C, G), for a total of 27 points (18 + 5 + 4). A great result!

If the optional rules (see the next section) had been used, he could have used one or two bonus shapes to fill some of the empty spaces and thus earn even more points.

Optional Rules: Bonus Shapes

With this rule, each player has three bonus shapes available, which may each be used once per game.

  • One 1x1 square.
  • One 2x1 rectangle.
  • One 2x2 square.

Instead of the shape rolled on the die, during your turn you may draw one of these shapes in the place indicated by the flipped card.

For each bonus shape you do not use, you earn 2 extra points at the end of the game.
