Goal of the Game
Each player is a taxi driver who must bring their client safely to their destination, respecting the client's wishes or requirements if they want to be paid. Each client has particular traits and character quirks that will influence the course of the game and determine the route to take to complete the fare.
When a player completes a fare, they receive the amount shown on the fare card.
The first player to reach a total of 250 euros wins.
N.B.: If two players reach 250 euros during the same turn, the winner is the player who completed the most fares.
Number of Players
Up to 6 players, ages 7 to 99.
Game Contents
The game contains:
- A game board showing a map of Paris divided into spaces and bearing various icons.
- 9 different icons shown on the board:
- Bakery
- Pharmacy
- Garage
- Café
- Shopping (boutique, store)
- Park (square, garden, woods)
- Nightclub
- Chance
- Monument
- 6 small cars or tokens; 2 dice.
- 200 banknotes:
- 20 banknotes of 50 euros
- 50 banknotes of 20 euros
- 40 banknotes of 40 euros
- 50 banknotes of 10 euros
- 40 banknotes of 30 euros
- 70 client cards: each client card describes a character and their wishes or requirements.
- 50 chance cards: each chance card is one more instruction the taxi driver must follow. It may be fortunate or unfortunate.
- 100 fare cards: each fare card indicates where the player must take their client and the sum they will receive for doing so. The colour of the card identifies the district in which the destination space is located.
On the client and chance cards, the coloured background behind certain words, namely places, indicates the district in which those places are located.
Setup
- Each player chooses a token (their taxi) and receives 30 euros.
- The chance cards, fare cards and client cards are placed beside the board, along with the banknotes.
- One player is designated to look after the bank.
Start
- The game starts for all players on the Départ space, near Gare de Lyon.
- Each player rolls the dice, and the player who rolls the highest total goes first.
- The first player draws one client card and one fare card. They must read their client card aloud carefully, because it tells them which icons to avoid or, on the contrary, which icons they must pass through. They then place both cards in front of them, where everyone can see them, and roll the dice to move their token.
During the Game
- If a player rolls a double with the dice, they roll again.
- There is no direction of travel on the board, but a player must not move backwards, even when starting a new fare.
- There is one exception to this rule: when a player has reached the spaces Orly Airport, Charles de Gaulle Airport, Heliport, Impound Lot (Fourrière) or Disneyland® Paris and has no other choice, moving backwards is mandatory.
- If a player passes over an icon requested by the client without stopping, passing over that icon counts. The player does not have to stop exactly on the icon, unless the client's card says otherwise.
- By contrast, to arrive on the space that marks the end of the fare, the player must stop there, even if the dice total is higher. If the dice total brings the player exactly onto the destination space of their fare, they receive a bonus of 20 euros.
- To draw a chance card, the player must land exactly on a space with the Chance icon. Once the card has been drawn, the player must absolutely follow the instruction on it.
- When a player lands on a Chance space after completing a fare, the instruction on the chance card is applied during the next fare.
- N.B.: The recommendation on a chance card takes precedence over that on a client card. When a chance card orders the player to go to a place, they must go there immediately, before completing their fare.
- At the end of each fare, the player collects the money the bank gives them, keeps the fare card, and returns the client card to the bottom of the deck. They then draw another client card and another fare card, and set off again from the space where they are.
- For smoother traffic on the board, the position of some streets or monuments has sometimes been adapted.
