Setup
- The two players take 4 dice each. The remaining die serves to begin the first game.
- The players draw lots to indicate the beginner. The beginner throws the remaining die and places it in the middle space of the grid.
- Next both players throw their 4 dice. Only the sides facing up count. It is not allowed to throw again during the game. All the dice are to remain visible for both players; it is not allowed to cover them.
Playing the Game
- Each player, alternately, places one of his dice in the grid. This must be done in the following manner:
- a) the die has to border at least one side of another die in the grid (NOTE: it has to border its side, a corner doesn't count)
- b) the sides facing each other must have the same number of spots (0, 1, 2 or 3)
- A player must try to place his dice in the frame in such a way that the opponent can't play anymore, i.e. the aim is to block the opponent.
- A player cannot pass a turn; he is obligated to play when he has a matching die. On the other hand, when he can't play anyone, then he is obliged to pass. When neither of the players can continue, the game is over.
Winning a Game
- The winner of a game is the player with the fewest dice left over.
- To begin the next game, both players remove 4 dice from the grid. Now the other player throws the remaining die, et cetera...
Playing a Match
- The players can play separate, short games, or they can challenge each other to play a MATCH. To play a match, they have to use the markers.
Each player has 2 markers. The left marker serves to count the games a player has won (G = GAME), the right marker serves to count the sets (S = SETS). To win a set, a player has to win 4 games. The first player to win two sets, wins the match.
CAUTION: at the beginning of each set, both players have to place their left marker on zero games again.
