Rules (A)

Shuffle the cards carefully and place them in the middle of the table, blue letter side up. Turn over the top card so that a topic and a letter are visible.

Now everyone may quickly offer a word or concept that fits the open topic and starts with the visible letter.

For example, in this case the suggestions "monkey", "African elephant" and "Amur tiger" would certainly fit.

If the fastest player's suggestion is also accepted by the others, that player takes the open topic card as a point, along with all the cards under it.

If nobody suggests a suitable word, or the players cannot agree on who gets the card, the card stays on the table and a new topic card is turned over on top of it.

The new card is turned over by the player to the left of the player who guessed in the previous round. The game ends when there are no face-down topic cards left to turn over.

Then count the points. The winner is the player with the most cards.

Rules (B)

Shuffle the cards carefully and place the pile in the middle of the table, blue letter side up.

The player to the left of the card shuffler turns over the top topic card from the pile and must name a word or concept that fits the open topic and the starting letter. Once a word has been named, the next player to the left names a word for the same topic and letter pair.

If all players have each named one suitable word, or if nobody has thought of any word, the card stays on the table and the next card is turned over on top of it. The player who started the round turns over the next card.

A player who does not think of a suitable word within a reasonable time receives all the open cards as negative points. After that, the player to the left of that player turns over a new card and the game continues.

The game continues until one card is left in the pile. Then count the points. The winner is the player with the fewest cards.

Rules (C)

This variant requires a timer and writing materials for each player.

Shuffle the cards carefully and place the pile in the middle of the table, blue letter side up. Turn over the top four cards of the pile (that is, four topics) and start the timer.

In one minute, the players must write down the maximum number of words that fit the topics shown and start with the top letter of the remaining pile.

After one minute, the players' points are counted and recorded:

  • 3 points for each suitable word that only one player suggested.
  • 1 point for each word that more than one player suggested.
  • Minus 2 points for each topic for which no word was suggested.

Count the points and start a new round. Keep playing until the pile is finished. The winner is the player with the most points.

Note: The time limit may be shortened or lengthened by agreement of the players. It is also possible to turn over more or fewer than four cards.

Rules (D)

Shuffle the cards carefully and place the pile in the middle of the table, blue letter side up. Turn over and place on the table the top card, so that the combination of topic and letter is visible.

The player to the left of the card shuffler states how many suitable words or concepts for the given topic, starting with the shown letter, they know.

The following players must either make a higher bid or say "I pass". The player whose bid was the highest names the suitable words and concepts and receives the corresponding points.

Note: Points are taken first from the open cards, and when those run out, from the pile.

If the player who made the highest bid cannot name all the required words, they must take the corresponding number of cards from the cards they have earned and place them under the pile as a penalty.

Turn over the next card and place it on the table. Now the bid is made by the player to the left of the player whose bid was the highest in the previous round.

This variant is suitable for two card sets: for example, combining the Tark Mees Taskus set with the Tark Mees Taskus 2 set.
