Materials for the Game

  • 20 dice (9 black, 9 white and 2 red joker dice)
  • 110 cards
    • 76 task cards with a blue background
    • 34 action cards with a yellow background
  • 30 minus chips
  • 1 dice plate

Object of the Game

The players try to fulfil as many task cards as possible. To do so each player takes turns to remove a dice from the dice plate. At the same time it is important to watch out for which dice are still available. Because if another player takes away the dice you need, you may well end up with some minus points.

Preparation for the Game

The task cards are shuffled well and placed down in a pile facing down. The action cards are also shuffled well and are placed down ready in a separate pile facing down.

Depending on how many people are playing, the following dice are required:

Number of playersWhite diceBlack diceJoker dice (red)
2661
3772
4882
5992

Surplus cards are returned to the box. They are not required.

How to Play

The game goes on for several rounds until each player has been the player to start the round twice (see End of Game for the number of starts by player count). The youngest player starts the game.

  1. At the beginning of the round the players receive 4 task cards and 1 action card each from the relevant pile; they keep these cards concealed from the other players.

  2. The player who starts a round casts all the dice into the dice plate. This cast forms the stock of dice accessible to all of the players during the entire round.

  3. Beginning with the player who starts the round, each player takes turns to either take one dice from the dice plate or to pass up the round.

    • Before a player takes a dice he always has the opportunity to play one action card.
    • A player who passes up does not play for the rest of that round and - to indicate that he has passed up - he lays his hand of cards face down in front of him.
  4. The round ends as soon as there are no more dice in the dice plate, or all the players have passed up.

  5. The scores are worked out at the end of each round of the game. The players check each others' cards to see which task cards the players were able to fulfil from their hands. For this purpose each player places the fulfilled cards facing up in front of him and puts the corresponding dice onto the cards next to the relevant pictures.

    Important:

    • Each dice must exactly match one of the dice depicted on the task cards.
    • For each dice which a player has taken in one of the rounds but which it was impossible to use for a task, the player gets 1 minus chip. At the end of the game this counts as 1 minus point.
    • Red joker dice may be used as white or as black dice.
    • For each red joker dice the player has taken and used for a task, he gets 1 minus chip.
    • Joker dice which have not been used by the end of a round incur 2 minus chips.

The Task Cards

The task cards show which dice are required to fulfil a task and how many points are to be had for the task.

  • Winning points: Indicate how many points can be won for fulfilling the task. In the example in the rulebook the fulfilled task brings 3 winning points.
  • Dice: Indicates which dice are required to fulfil the task. In the example a black dice showing 3 points and a white dice showing 4 points.

There are the following different types of task cards:

  • To fulfil this task a black 5, a white 1 and a 6 in any colour are required.
  • To fulfil this task, any number of black dice showing a total of more than 12 points, are required.
  • To fulfil this task two black dice and one white one showing a random number of points are required.
  • To fulfil this task, exactly three dice of any colour showing a total of less than 9 points, are required.
  • To fulfil this task, any number of black dice and / or any number of white dice showing a total of exactly 15 points, are required.

Example

The player was only able to fulfil one task card. He collected the required dice (white 3 and white 2). He places the task card down in front of him. This task will bring him 3 winning points at the end of the game.

The player cannot use the black 2 for any other task. He must take 1 minus chip.

Action Cards

If an action card is played the special action can then be carried out. A player may only play an action card if it is his turn and he has not yet taken a dice or passed up. After carrying out the special action the player must - as usual - take a dice out of the dice plate or pass up.

Generally speaking: Action cards can alter the dice on the dice plate. Dice which other players have already taken cannot be altered by action cards.

The action cards:

  • The player casts all the black dice in the dice plate again.
  • The player casts up to four white and / or black dice in the dice plate again. For example, he may cast two white and one black dice again.
  • Once only the player is allowed to take 2 dice from the dice plate.
  • The player is allowed to alter a black dice in the dice plate at random. The player has to take a minus chip for each depicted red chip.
  • The player casts a dice, which has already been taken, back into the dice plate. The dice is permitted to be cast against other dice in order to alter them.
  • The player is allowed to switch the numbers of one white and one black dice in the dice plate.
  • The player casts all the red dice in the dice plate again.
  • The player is allowed to alter a white dice in the dice plate by exactly 2 points upwards or downwards. For example he may change a 3 to a 5 and a 6 to a 4.

Action cards which have already been played are put on a separate discard pile. If a deck pile (task cards or action cards) has been used up, the relevant discard pile is shuffled and placed face down as the new draw pile.

End of Game

The game ends after the round in which all the players have started a round equally often. How often each player gets to start the rounds depends on the number of players:

  • If 2 are playing each player must start 3 times,
  • If 3 are playing each player must start 3 times,
  • If 4 are playing each player must start twice,
  • If 5 are playing each player must start once.

Now all the players add up the winning points for their fulfilled tasks. Each minus chip counts as 1 minus point. The person who has gathered the most points wins the game.

Note: At the beginning of the game the players may agree to divide up the 5 hand cards as they wish! This enables each player to decide for himself how many cards of which kind to take. However, in all it must not be more than 5 cards.

After the other players have checked the tasks, each player places the fulfilled task cards face down before him as the score pile.

  • Now each player can discard one of the remaining cards in his hand (task card or action card) onto the respective discard pile. Thereafter the players replenish their hands to 4 task cards and 1 action card.

  • The player to the left of the last player to start a round begins the next round by casting all the dice into the dice plate. The game is continued as described above.
