Aim of the Game
Who will skip the bellyache and finish with the fewest cards?
Setup
- Shuffle the cards and deal 3 to each player. Look at the cards in your hand without showing them to the others.
- The remaining cards form the draw pile. Place them face down in the center of the table.
- Draw the first card from this pile and place it face up on the table. This card is the taco base. If it is a special card, shuffle it back into the pile and draw a new card. Ingredients will be added to it to create the perfect taco... or not!
- The last person to have eaten a taco starts.
How to Play
The game is played clockwise. On your turn, play a card and draw a card. When you play a card, place it face up on the taco and announce the total sum of the cards (placing it so that the previously played card(s) are partially visible underneath. This way, you can easily keep track of the total sum).
For example, if the first card has a value of 3 and you play a 5 on top, announce "8".
After playing a card, 3 outcomes are possible:
The sum is less than 11
The taco is not ready yet. The game continues and the next player takes their turn.
The sum is equal to 11
You've made the perfect taco! Give the entire taco to the player of your choice who sets it aside, face up. The game continues and the next player takes their turn (starting a new taco if there are none left).
The sum exceeds 11
You overfilled the taco, it's ruined. Take the entire taco and set it aside, face up. The game continues and the next player takes their turn (starting a new taco if there are none left).
Special Cards
Legendary Taco
The Legendary Taco is played like any other card on your turn. This special card automatically brings the total sum to 11, regardless of the sum of the cards. In this case, the "sum is equal to 11" effect is applied.
But beware of the Lonesome Taco!
Lonesome Taco
This card can be played in two different ways.
- When you play a Legendary Taco, the other players can counter your move by playing the Lonesome Taco BEFORE you select your target player. If more than one player wants to play Lonesome Taco, whoever is sitting closest to you may play it. In this case, you must take the entire taco, including the Lonesome Taco, and set it aside, face up. The player on your left continues.
- If you play a Lonesome Taco on any taco during your turn instead, the sum of the taco resets to 0. This means the taco can become dangerously large!
Note: When you play Lonesome Taco, immediately draw a card so you always have 3 cards in your hand.
Special Rule
If you want to play a card with the same number as the last card played, you must create a new taco base instead of adding your card to existing tacos. This can happen multiple times. The game continues as normal.
If there are 2 or more tacos on the table during your turn, you can play on whichever taco you want.
Remember: All the cards in a taco must be visible, so you can remind yourself of the total sum at all times.
Game End
The game ends when all cards have been played (so there are no cards left in the draw pile or in your hands). The player with the fewest cards in front of them wins the game. In the case of a tie, share the victory!
