Dungeon Boss: Roxor

Roxor (Elemental Boss, Front)

Keywords: Tunneler, Immune: Fire, Immune: Knockdown.

Magma (1 action point): Backlash.

Riddle of Steel (2 action points): Range 6, Weaken.

Volcano (2 action points): Wave 3.

Molten Core: At the start of each of Roxor's activations, choose a form for him. See the reverse of this card.

(Stats such as hearts and attribute values are printed on the game card and are not reproduced here.)

Roxor (Reverse: Molten Core Forms)

Backlash: When a model with Backlash wins a defense roll against an attacker's offense roll, the attacker suffers a wound. Wounds from Backlash do not charge the power bar.

Tunneler: Instead of moving normally, this model may choose to use Tunneler. Remove all status effect tokens. Place the model in an empty square up to six squares away from its current position.

Molten Core: Roxor enters the game in Rock Form. At the start of each of his activations, choose a form for Roxor. Roxor keeps the benefits of that form until the start of his next activation:

  • Rock Form: +1 ARM, Immune: Status Effects.
  • Fire Form: +1 STR, Fire.

Roxor (Adventure Effects)

Dungeon Effects

  • Rock Crevices: All squares adjacent to portals count as difficult terrain for Heroes.
  • Precious Metals: Once per round the Heroes may discard two unused loot cards and immediately draw a new one.

Boss Fight Effects

  • Molten Core: Roxor enters the game in Rock Form. At the start of each of his activations, choose a form for Roxor. Roxor keeps the benefits of that form until the start of his next activation.
    • Rock Form: +1 ARM, Immune: Status Effects.
    • Fire Form: +1 STR, Fire.
  • Tremor: When Roxor enters the game, each Hero receives a Slow token.

Timeout Effects

  • Earthquake: Place a Knockdown token on each Hero.
  • Summon:
    • 1 Blazing Beetle
    • 2 Ember Hounds
    • 3 Burning Gels

Mini-Boss: Rock Gut the Troll

Rock Gut (Troll Mini-Boss)

Tough: At the start of its activation, a model with Tough may remove a single wound token before status effects are resolved.

Keywords: Tough, Fire, Immune: Fire, Vulnerable: Ice.

Feast (2 action points): +1 STR. If Rock Gut inflicts a wound with this attack, it may immediately remove one wound token.

Fire Bile (2 action points): Lance 6.

New Heroes

Deeproot Scout (Elf Hero)

Boomerang (1 action point): Range 6, Hookshot. Place the target treasure chest in an empty square adjacent to the Deeproot Scout.

Bow (1 action point): Missile 8.

Acorn Grenade (2 action points): Range 6, Burst 1, Knockdown, Dangerous.

Fairy Syrup (potion): +1 [symbol not reproduced].

Princess Ruby (Human Hero)

Keywords: Magic 6, Dodge.

Dodge: A model with Dodge may use its DEX for defense rolls, unless it is suffering Knockdown, Immobile or Slow.

Heal X: A model affected by Heal may remove X wound tokens or X status effect tokens.

Favor of the Maiden (1 action point): Augment, Range 6, +1 STR.

Pledge of the Maiden (1 action point): Augment, Range 6, +1 WILL.

Kiss of the Maiden (1 action point): Augment, Range 2, Heal 1.

Until Her Dying Day: Discard a single just-drawn treasure or loot card and immediately draw a new one.

Star Guild Sapper (Dwarf Hero)

Keywords: Immune: Knockdown, Strike Range 2.

Astral Hammer (2 action points): Cross 2, Knockdown.

POW! (2 action points): +1 STR, Massive Damage.

Starlight (1 action point): Immune: Status Effects.

Fire Ring: All non-special attacks of the affected Hero gain "Range 8, Fire."

New Minions

Lava Vortex (Spawning Point)

Keywords: Immune: Status Effects.

This set brings the following models: 1 Lava Vortex (portal), 1 Blazing Beetle, 2 Ember Hounds, 3 Burning Gels, 6 Fire Gels.

Blazing Beetle (Elemental Fiend)

Keywords: Immune: Fire, Tunneler.

Burning Chitin: +1 ARM, Backlash.

Fire Blast: Cross 3, Fire.

Ember Hound (Elemental Fiend)

Keywords: Immune: Fire, Stealth.

Ash Cloud: Wave 1, Choke.

Stealth: When a model with Stealth becomes the target of a ranged attack, it may immediately make a DEX roll. Subtract the number of stars rolled from the attacker's Range. If this roll takes the attacker out of range, the attack counts as failed.

Burning Gel (Gel Fiend)

Keywords: Fire, Immune: Fire, Vulnerable: Ice.

Splat: Range 6, Burst 1, +1 STR.

Splash: When Burning Gel is destroyed, place two Fire Gels in adjacent empty squares before the model is removed.

Fire Gel (Gel Fiend)

Keywords: Fire, Immune: Fire, Vulnerable: Ice.

Little Splash: Fire Gels cannot be summoned. Instead they enter the game through the Splash ability of Burning Gel.

Insignificant: Fire Gels are Insignificant.

Rock Pile (Spawning Point)

Keywords: Immune: Status Effects.

This set brings the following models: 2 Rock Piles (portals), 1 Smasher Toad, 2 Bombard Toads, 2 Roller Toads, 6 Dawdler Toads.

Smasher Toad (Rock Top Minion)

Turtle Clatter: Wave 3, +1 STR for each turtle shell in the area of effect.

Thick Shell: Immune: Status Effects.

Roller Toad (Rock Top Minion)

Turtle: When this ability is activated, replace the model with a turtle shell. The shell counts in every respect as the same model it replaced. The model gains +1 ARM and Immune: Status Effects. Turtle shells may not move, attack or use special actions.

When a model with Turtle must make a defense roll, it may immediately activate Turtle for free before rolling the defense. When Turtle is active at the start of this model's activation, replace the turtle shell with the original model. The model may act normally on its turn and may activate Turtle again.

Zack!: Push a target turtle shell up to 6 squares. If the shell moves into a square adjacent to a Hero, its movement ends immediately. The Roller Toad immediately makes an offense roll against that Hero, with 1 per square the shell moved. This roll does not use the Roller Toad's STR.

Turtle Power: Activate Turtle immediately.

Bombard Toad (Rock Top Minion)

Turtle: As on the Roller Toad. When this ability is activated, the model is replaced by a turtle shell that counts as the same model, gains +1 ARM and Immune: Status Effects, and may not move, attack or use special actions. When a model with Turtle must make a defense roll, it may immediately activate Turtle for free before rolling. When Turtle is active at the start of this model's activation, replace the shell with the original model, which may act normally and activate Turtle again.

Turtle Power: Activate Turtle immediately.

Shell Shock: Augment, Range 10, Burst 2. All Rock Tops in the area of effect may immediately activate Turtle.

Turtle Cannon: Range 10, Burst 2, +1 STR.

Dawdler Toad (Rock Top Minion)

Turtle: As on the Roller Toad. When this ability is activated, the model is replaced by a turtle shell that counts as the same model, gains +1 ARM and Immune: Status Effects, and may not move, attack or use special actions. When a model with Turtle must make a defense roll, it may immediately activate Turtle for free before rolling. When Turtle is active at the start of this model's activation, replace the shell with the original model, which may act normally and activate Turtle again.

Turtle Power: Activate Turtle immediately.

Treasure Cards

These are the treasure cards printed for Roxor's minions and bosses. Each card's stat bonus and keywords are shown as printed.

Fire Gel Glob (Equipment, WILL +1)

Keywords: Immune: Fire.

Splat (2 action points): Magic 6, Burst 1, Fire.

Fool's Gold (Treasure)

At the end of this model's activation, draw a loot card. When this model makes a roll using its WILL attribute, the highest result is ignored.

Grisly-Grim Granite Greaves (Equipment, ARM +1)

Keywords: Immune: Knockdown, Immune: Slow, Immune: Immobile.

Roxor's Curse (Equipment, STR +1, ARM +1)

Keywords: Frost.

Clatter & Rumble (Equipment, STR +1)

Keywords: Knockdown.

Earth Shock (2 action points): Wave 1.

Wobbling Stalactite (Equipment, DEX +1)

Wobble: Missile 8, Stun. (The action is marked with a red "!" symbol on the card; no action point cost is printed in the text layer.)

Translator's Notes

These notes are the translator's, not part of the card text. They list every term that was rendered into English, so that a player can check the wording against the German set.

Attributes. ATT is read as STR, RÜS as ARM, GES as DEX, and WILL is unchanged. These follow the four attributes of the base rulebook.

Keywords that match the base rulebook's terms: Backlash (Zurückschlagen), Burst (Explosion), Augment (Verstärken), Dangerous (Gefährlich), Heal (Heilen), Immune (Immun), Insignificant (Unbedeutend), Knockdown (Umwerfen), Slow (Langsam), Ice (Frost, as a status effect), Fire (Feuer), Cross (Kreuz), Wave (Welle), Lance (Lanze), Missile (Geschoss), Range (Reichweite), Hookshot (Hakenschuss), Stealth (Tarnung), Tough (Robust), Status Effects (Zustandseffekte), spawning point (Portal).

Keywords not in the base rulebook (translator's rendering of the German term; check against the German card set if in doubt): Tunneler (Tunnelgräber), Turtle (Schildkröte), Dodge (Ausweichen), Immobile (Unbeweglich), Massive Damage (Massiver Schaden), Vulnerable (Verwundbar), Stun (Betäuben), Choke (Würgen), Weaken (Schwächen), Strike Range (Schlagweite), Little Splash (Kleiner Spritzer), Splash (Spritzer), Shell Shock (Panzerschock), Turtle Clatter (Schildkrötenscheppern), Turtle Cannon (Schildkrötenkanone), Turtle Power (Schildkröten-Power), Fire Ring (Feuerreif), Starlight (Sternenschein), Feast (Festmahl), Fire Bile (Feuergalle), Riddle of Steel (Rätsel des Stahls), Burning Chitin (Brennendes Chitin), Ash Cloud (Aschewolke), Fire Blast (Feuerstoß), Earth Shock (Erdstoß), Wobble (Wackeln), Splat (Platsch), Zack! (Zack!), Favor, Pledge and Kiss of the Maiden (Gunst, Pfand und Kuss der Maid), Until Her Dying Day (Bis an ihr Lebensende), Boomerang (Bumerang), Bow (Bogen), Acorn Grenade (Eichelgranate), Fairy Syrup (Feensirup). "Weaken" is the least certain of these: it is the literal reading of Schwächen on the Roxor card, and the status it applies is not named on the card.

Printed names. Heroes and bosses use the English names from the BGG listing (Roxor, Rock Gut the Troll, Princess Ruby, Deeproot Scout, Star Guild Sapper). The BGG listing spells the third hero "Scrapper"; the German card reads "Sappeur" and is rendered "Sapper". Other names are translated from the German: Rock Pile (Felshaufen), Rock Top (Felsrücken), Lava Vortex (Lavawirbel), Blazing Beetle (Loderkäfer), Ember Hound (Gluthund), Burning Gel (Brandgel), Fire Gel (Feuergel), Smasher Toad (Schmetterkröte), Roller Toad (Walzkröte), Bombard Toad (Bombardkröte), Dawdler Toad (Bummelkröte), Turtle (Schildkröte), Roxor's Curse (Roxors Fluch), Clatter & Rumble (Polter & Rumpel), Wobbling Stalactite (Wackelnder Stalaktit), Fool's Gold (Narrengold), Fire Gel Glob (Feuergelgliber), Grisly-Grim Granite Greaves (Grausig-Grimme Granit-Beinschienen). The product name "Rock Top Gang" comes from the BGG listing.

Rule priority. The card texts govern (see Rule Priority in the base rulebook). Two card texts differ in mechanics from the base rulebook's entries of the same name. Stealth on the Ember Hound is a DEX roll that subtracts stars from the attacker's range; the base Stealth ability reduces range by 3. Tunneler is an action that places the model up to six squares away, which is not the base Burrow ability.

Layout. The card file prints some cards twice on a sheet (Rock Pile, Roller Toad, the Roxor adventure side and the Wobbling Stalactite). Each is transcribed once. Card flavour text, copyright lines and the sheet instructions are not reproduced.

Not reproduced. Hearts, attribute values and skull point values printed on the game cards are not in this rulebook, and the Fairy Syrup symbol is shown as "[symbol not reproduced]". Action point costs are given where the card prints them as a number in a circle.
