Setup
- Separate the Sardine Cards and the Order Cards into 2 different decks and shuffle each deck separately. Place each deck face down within reach of all players.
- Deal 2 Sardine Cards to each player.
- Draw 5 Sardine Cards from the top of the deck and place them face up to form the 'Market'.
- Draw 4 Order Cards from the top of the deck and place them face up in a row above the Sardine Cards.
- The player who has most recently eaten canned seafood goes first OR choose a starting player through other means.
How to Play
On a turn, players may complete one of two actions: Gather Sardines OR Complete an Order.
1. Gather Sardines
- From the face up display of Sardine Cards, take any 2 fish and place them into your hand. You may take a single Sardine Card with 2 fish OR 2 Sardine Cards each with 1 fish.
2. Complete An Order
-
Discard cards from your hand matching the fish shown on a face up Order Card. Collect and place the Order Card face down in front of you.
Example: If an Order Card shows 2 blue and 2 orange fish, you must discard 2 blue and 2 orange fish to complete that Order Card.
-
SPECIAL ORDER cards require you to discard the appropriate number of fish of the same color of your choice to complete the order.
Example: If an Order Card shows 2 same color fish, you must discard 2 orange, blue, green, or pink sardines.
-
MIXED BAG Order cards require you to discard the appropriate number of fish, each of a different color, to complete the order.
Example: If an Order Card shows 3 multicolor fish, you could discard 1 orange, 1 green, and 1 pink fish.
-
NOTE: You may discard more than the required number of fish to complete an Order Card.
Example: You may discard 2 Sardine Cards, each with 2 pink fish, to complete an Order Card with 3 pink fish.
After taking an action, replace any Sardine or Order Cards taken from the Market with cards drawn from the top of the corresponding deck. If the Sardine Card deck is ever empty, shuffle the discard pile to create a new deck and continue play.
Note: If at the end of your turn you have more than 6 Sardine Cards in your hand, discard down to a maximum of 6 cards.
Play continues clockwise to the next person.
Scoring / End of the Game
The game end triggers when the final Order Card from the face down deck is placed face up in the market. Finish the round so that all players have an equal number of turns.
The player with the most points from their completed Order Cards wins and is named the Employee of the Month. If there is a tie for most points, the tied player with the most completed Order Cards wins. If there is still a tie, the player with the most fish in their hand wins. Still tied? The players share the award.
