Aim of the Game
Whose bees will be the first to collect three honey drops, thus winning the game?
Preparation of the Game
Put the game board in the center of the table.
Slot the frog into the game board. Rotate it so that its tongue coincides with any little red frog symbol.
Each player gets two bees and three honey drops of the corresponding color. Place the bees on the hive of the corresponding color. The three honey drops are placed on the blossom of the corresponding colored flower.
Get both dice ready next to the game board.
If there are less than four players, the remaining bees and honey drops are placed back in the box.
How to Play
Play in a clockwise direction. Whoever has most recently seen a leaping frog, may start. If you can't agree, the youngest player starts.
First roll the die with the dots and move one of your bees. Then roll the die with the frog and move it accordingly.
The Die with the Dots
This die indicates how many squares you can move one of your bees. Move your bee in any direction.
In doing so respect the following bee flying rules:
- Squares occupied by other bees are counted.
- If your move ends on a square occupied by a bee move your bee on to the next free square.
- You can not move on to or past a square above which the tongue of the frog is at that moment.
- You can not renounce any dots on the dice.
- If you can not move, your bee stays where it is.
Frog Frederic's Little Hint: The game board shows stone shaped squares and hiding places. On the hiding places you are protected from the long tongue of the frog. However, there can be only one bee in each hiding place!
The Die Showing the Frog
After moving the bee, you then roll the frog die .... as it is now that the cheeky frog intervenes!
Which Symbol Appears on the Die?
-
Black frog: the frog does not move. A black and sleeping frog? Frederic frog sleeps deeply and won't move in this round. Be absolutely quiet so not to wake him up with your buzzing!
-
Colored frog: turn the frog. A yellow, pink or blue frog? Slowly rotate the frog and the tip of his tongue in a clockwise direction towards the next frog symbol of the color rolled on the die.
-
Tongue above a bee: the frog stops, the bee goes back into its hive. Important! As soon as Frederic's tongue is above a bee, the bee will be attracted by the magnet and Frederic stops immediately. Take the bee carefully off the tongue and place it back in the hive of its color. Frederic is not moved any further.
-
Bee on a flower square: collect a honey drop. (Collecting Honey Drops) As soon as one of your bees reaches your blossom you can collect a honey drop.
Important! You don't have to reach the blossom with the exact number of dots on the die. Remaining dots don't have to be used.
Put the drop and your bee back in its hive.
End of the Game
The game ends as soon as the first player has collected three honey drops of one color. They win the game and are elected the most eager bee of the day.
Even cheeky Frog Frederic now behaves well and congratulates the most eager bee!
Variation for Experienced Players
In this variation you roll both dice simultaneously. So you can choose which action you want to do first.
