Can I pre-measure a Boost or other movement before committing?
Barrel roll is explicit in the rulebook; Boost rests on player reports of the later FAQ.

Boost: players first argued by analogy with barrel roll that you can check beforehand, since the Boost card forbids it if the base would overlap. A later FAQ, as one player summarised it, gave Boost the same measure-before-committing wording as barrel roll. The rulebook text for normal maneuvers only bars testing templates during the Planning phase; barrel roll is the written exception in the core rulebook.
