How does Darth Vader's crew ability work with shields, Chewbacca and multiple crits?
The core rulebook states this directly, and forum replies agree.
Vader's ability makes the ship suffer 1 critical damage, so it follows the normal damage rules: shields absorb it first, and against Chewbacca (the pilot) a crit is treated as a normal hit as usual. It is not a card dealt directly, so shields do not get skipped. Whether the crit still resolves if the self-inflicted damage destroys Vader's own ship was not settled in the sources.
