Can a ship equip two copies of the same upgrade, such as two Proton Torpedoes?
The rulebook ties upgrades to the icons on the ship's upgrade bar, and players agree.

Only if its upgrade bar shows that icon twice. A ship gets one upgrade per icon in its bar, so a Y-Wing, with two torpedo icons, can carry two Proton Torpedoes cards while an X-Wing cannot. Modifications are separate: a ship may have only one.
