Components and Integration
This pack provides the Kayn Somos, Trooper Commander plastic figure that can be used to replace his villain token when playing a mission. The other components in this expansion are incorporated as follows:
- Add the Deployment cards to their supply.
- If you own the Twin Shadows expansion, the Imperial player can choose the "Stormtrooper Support" Agenda set when building his Agenda deck at the start of a campaign.
- Shuffle the Skirmish Mission cards into the Skirmish Mission deck. These cards use the "Tython Meditation Field" skirmish map (see below).
- Add the Command cards to the pool of cards that a player can use to build his Command deck.
Component Breakdown
- 1 Plastic Figure (Kayn Somos)
- 2 Deployment Cards (Kayn Somos, Rule by Fear)
- 3 Command Cards (Rank and File, Squad Swarm, Rally the Troops)
- 3 Agenda Cards (Stormtrooper Support)
- 2 Skirmish Mission Cards (Tython Meditation Field)
Skirmish Mission: Tython Meditation Field
The Tython Meditation Field skirmish map is printed on the sheet, with a Force Pillar token marked on the map. It is used with the two Skirmish Mission cards in this pack (see Components and Integration above).
Map tiles: 01A, 02A, 04A, 05A, 06A, 07A, 10A, 11A, 12A, 17A (4), 18A (2), 21A, 39A (3).
The sheet prints the following text for the two Skirmish Mission cards. It is reproduced as printed.
A: Balance of the Force
Those who study the ways of the Force know that it can be your most powerful ally, or your greatest foe. Hoping that it will be the former, your team has traveled to the ancient Tython Meditation Fields, hoping to increase their strength with the Force. Unfortunately, it seems your enemies had similar ideas in mind. You muster your focus, hoping you can channel the powerful energy of this location to your advantage in combat.
B: Chosen of the Force
True heroes may not even know of their destiny until it is thrust upon them. In moments of greatest trial, those gifted with strength in the Force will rise masterfully to the occasion, often not even knowing where their new strength came from. The downside is such heroes become prime targets for enemy squads, since defeating them will bring both advantage and morale to their side of the conflict.
Side Mission: Strength of Command
Map tiles: 01A (Command Hub); 21A, 26A, 27A, 28A, 29A, 31A, 32A, 33A, 34A (2), 35A, 36A (4).
Deployment and Setup
- Initial Groups: Imperial Officer, Stormtrooper.
- Reserved Groups: E-Web Engineer, E-Web Engineer, Kayn Somos (Trooper Commander), Stormtrooper.
- Open Groups: 3. No CREATURES.
- Special Setup: Increase threat by twice the threat level and resolve an optional deployment.
Event Summary
- Round 6: End of Mission
- First door opens: Target Acquired
- First time Kayn Somos is defeated: Strategic Withdrawal
- Door to Command Hub opens: Last Stand
- Second time Kayn Somos is defeated or all heroes wounded: End of Mission
Mission Briefing
You burst into the facility, weapons drawn, intent on finding and defeating the notorious commander Kayn Somos and sabotaging his anti-Rebellion mission.
Though you're met with heavy resistance, Somos isn't anywhere in sight. You forge ahead through the enemy troops, eager to reach the commander.
- Doors are locked to Imperial figures. The door to the Command Hub is also locked to Rebel figures.
- The mission will progress when a door opens ([mission progress icon]). The mission ends at the end of Round 6 or when all heroes are wounded.
Target Acquired
The first time a door opens:
- Deploy the reserved Kayn Somos and Stormtrooper group to the yellow point.
- The yellow deployment point is now active.
- Increase threat by the threat level and resolve an optional deployment.
- Apply additional health to Kayn Somos equal to the threat level.
- The mission will progress when Kayn Somos is defeated ([mission progress icon]).
Strategic Withdrawal
The first time Kayn Somos is defeated:
Wounded, Somos staggers into the hangar as the blast door closes behind him.
- The door to the Command Hub is unlocked to Rebel figures.
- The mission will progress when the door to the Command Hub opens ([mission progress icon]).
Last Stand
When the door to the Command Hub opens:
Somos stands battered, but not defeated, flanked by two enormous laser cannons. Menacingly, he points in your direction, ordering the attack.
- Deploy Kayn Somos to the red point. He suffers [damage icon] equal to the threat level.
- Deploy the reserved E-Web Engineer and E-Web Engineer to different blue deployment points.
- Each E-Web Engineer has health equal to twice the threat level instead of its listed health.
- The mission ends when Kayn Somos is defeated a second time ([mission progress icon]).
End of Mission
When Kayn Somos is defeated a second time:
You run Somos down, thinking you have him cornered, but his reputation of being elusive holds true. His troops jump in your way to save their commander as he makes a cowardly retreat through the back. While you didn't defeat him, at least you stopped his mission and saved countless Rebel lives.
- Heroes receive 100 credits per hero.
At the end of Round 6 or when all heroes are wounded:
You realize you were foolish to try to attack a full stormtrooper training facility head on. The pressure is too heavy, forcing you to retreat. You contact as many Rebel supporters in the area as you can, urging them to evacuate.
- The Imperial player receives Kayn Somos (Trooper Commander) as a villain.
Additional Rewards
- Each player receives 1 XP. Heroes receive 100 credits per hero. The Imperial player receives 1 influence.
Transcription Notes
- The sheet's text is read from page images at 300 dpi; no text layer exists. Icons are written as words where the sheet's text makes the meaning plain (threat, health, credits, XP, influence, villain, CREATURES). Icons whose meaning could not be identified with certainty at the printed size are shown in brackets: the damage-result icon in the Last Stand bullet and the mission-progress icon used for doors opening and for defeats.
- The Skirmish Mission cards' printed text on the sheet is flavour text only; no mechanical text for either card appears on the sheet, so none is given here.
- Card art, the component breakdown images and the tile-list icons (the graphic before the first tile on each list) are not reproduced; they are not rules text.
- Red text on the sheet's Deployment and Setup and Target Acquired / Last Stand bullets is shown as plain text.
- The sheet's copyright line ("© & TM Lucasfilm Ltd. / © FFG") and map labels other than the tile list and the Force Pillar and Command Hub names are not reproduced.
